Totally Papercrafts Challenge

Morning everyone. Brrr.... It's a bit chilly again!

It's time for a new challenge over at Totally Papercrafts and this week it's the turn of the lovely Cathy to set the theme and this week she would like to see...

Anything Christmassy But A Card

Oooh, get your thinking caps on!

We are sponsored this week by Wild Rose Studio who are offering two stamps of the winners choice.

And so to my creation.... which started out to be an advent calendar, then a countdown to Christmas, then a candle and finally I settled on a door hanging.   I think this will be for the living room door so that Santa knows where to leave presents (and to stop any fighting between children cos I ain't making another!)

Best Get A Wiggle On

Good grief, it's the 29th November! It's nearly Christmas.... I had better get some Christmas cards made... Or maybe I could just post one on here with my good wishes for a Merry Christmas and that would do?! What do you think? Could I get away with it?

This time last year I asked my friend to nag me into making at least 10 cards every month so that by the time I got to December I'd have loads of them... And he did, for the first few months, but I kept muttering excuses so he stopped asking...

So....lots of work to be done. *gulp*

Couple of cards to share today but they were for the same couple. Someone at Andy's work asked if I could do her a card for friends of hers who were having a civil ceremony in New York. I thought this Tiddly Inks image of Charles and his tulips was perfect. But how to move them so there would be two and they would look like they were standing together. Cass and I fought for ages with Microsoft Word cos we wanted them closer together than they actually are but this was the best we could do. I think it works though.

A couple of weeks before the couple were due to wed I was asked to do another card that would be from one of the guys' mum. I have no idea who picked which card though but they phoned Denise to say how much they loved both cards.

There, is, however, a story attached to the second card. Denise sent me a note via Andy to give me the names and the date for the card. The couple were getting married on 18th November in New York and she needed the card for 2nd November which was when they were having the party. I thought it was a bit odd that they were having a wedding reception before the actual wedding but the customer is always right so I printed the details and gave the cards to Andy to take to work.  Then he phoned to say I'd put the wrong date and it should be the 18th October.... mmmmmm, not the information on the letter but hey ho. I printed another insert and the problem was sorted :)

OK, Who Left the Freezer Door Open?!

It is absolutely freezing. I am thinking of going to get my gloves so that fingers will be warm and I'll be able to type!!

I have been at the Crafty Cabin today as Cass is busy tomorrow making 239347593745 cupcakes for her son's school Christmas Fayre on Friday. I got quite a lot done but sadly as I've been at Anchor Boys tonight it's all still lying in my bags ready to be worked on. Not tonight though....

This is a card I made a few weeks ago as Andy's boss was leaving and Andy asked me to do a car for him. I had to make it quite big as it was for the whole office to sign.

Ellie's Birthday Candy

My lovely friend Cathy has some candy on offer in honour of her beautiful daughter Ellie's 8th birthday on 7th December. Ellie and her sister Beth are two of Scott's best friends (it says so in his school book) and he even drew a picture of Ellie to illustrate his little story :) Aww. Bless.

Anyway, pop over to Cathy's blog and check out her candy.

One Stop Craft Challenge

Morning all, it's time for a new challenge over at One Stop Craft Challenge and this week our theme is

Vintage Christmas

Oh this was a challenge for me as I had no idea what I was going to do as it's not really my style (if I actually have one) so I called on my good friend Lorraine who is an expert on Vintagey looking cards, she's so good at it.

Strangely, I picked the papers before the image! This LotV girlie was stamped with DI before coloured her in with DI's too. Another departure for me. I'm pretty pleased with the results.  Lorraine subscribes to Becca Feeken at Amazing Paper Grace's Kits and the Nesties are new (not out till next year that she got in one of those kits)

Totally Papercrafts Challenge

Morning all, it's time for a new challenge over at Totally Papercrafts and this time it's my turn to host. Today I've chosen the theme....

Stitched Up

So, some real or faux stitching on your cards/papercraft creations this week please I don't mind which!

We're sponsored this week by A Day for Daisies who gave the DT some images to play with. Now I picked this image months ago when Christmas cards were the last thing on my mind. Now, I think I might scream if I see another snowman....

I may have taken the whole stitching thing a wee bit too far... even the paper has stitching on it and I've tried to go for a patchwork effect!

Delia (but not Smith)

So, here we are in the middle of another week. I cannot believe that we're nearly at the end of November, it seems like only yesterday that I said I couldn't believe it was November!

This is another of the cards I made for my former colleague which was the last birthday of the year in the wee team I used to work in.

I've paper pieced Delia's dress. These images are fab to that with... oh, I've just had an idea.... now, I need to write that down before I forget the idea (as is usually the case).

Love to Create Challenge

Morning all, a very good Monday morning to you. Can you believe we're in Mid November already?! Where does the time go?

Well, it's time for a new challenge at Love to Create and in honour of our American friends the challenge this week is

Give Thanks

We're sponsored this week by Robyn's Fetish who gave the DT some images to play with.

This was a little out of my comfort zone - I've never made a Thanksgiving card and I've never coloured in fruit for a card before - there's usually a person involved in the image..... Never mind, that's why it's a challenge eh?

I've even done a spot of paper piecing on this card so I'd get a kinda wooden fruit bowl effect. I'm quite pleased with it.

Lazin' On A Sunday Afternoon

And it's very nice to do so! Scott is building Lego, Craig is on his laptop and Andy and I are just relaxing with a cup of tea. It's that kind of Sunday :)

There are loads of things I *should* be doing but pfft to that.

Yesterday, I sorted colour sorted some Lego for Scott into bags cos I was fed with him asking me to look in the massive Lego box for one piece or another. He has just tipped each of the bags out back into the box..... *and breathe*

So, to today's card. A girl at Andy's work asked me to make a card for her Mum   and to try and incorporate sunflowers. Boy what a hard job I had looking for something that I liked and felt I could work with - then after I was finished the card later on that week when I was doing my DT commenting I saw loads of stuff that would have done instead of the stamp I did end up using.

This is Molly in her Garden from Molly Blooms and I've teamed it with the Daisy Bunch stamp (and tried to make them look like sunflowers) - so there was a spot of masking involved here too.

Totally Papercrafts Challenge

It's Friday!! Woohoo. And you know what that means don't you?! Yip. It's time for a new challenge at Totally Papercrafts.

This week our lovely Lisa has picked the theme and she wants to see

Clean and Simple - Black and White

Your card or project should have a Clean and Simple (CAS) design. The colour scheme should be primarily black and white but an accent colour(in your image or an embellishment) is fine.

We're sponsored this week by Meljen's Designs.

And here is my card. Haven't used this image for ages.... well, at least a week. But this is the first time I've used it for a wedding card! My friend asked me to make a card for her cousin's wedding so I decided to go for a kind of CAS look. (this is about as CAS as I can do!)

Nurse, Pass The Smelling Salts

Busy busy busy today. I'm off up to school shortly. Scott's class has been participating in football sessions and parents are invited up today for an interactive workshop.... Mmmm. Me? Interactive? I think not ;) I used to do everything in my power to get out of PE at school and here I am, voluntarily, going up to school to do something to do with exericse. Lost my mind, clearly.

Then after that I'm off to the Crafty Cabin for a daytime crafting jaunt because tonight we're going to George Square to see the Christmas Lights get switched on! I may collapse in a heap by the time I get home.

So on to today's card. This is one I was asked to make by my friend for her friend's birthday. My brief was that the friend liked shopping! What better image than this Kenny K girl :)

Do not disturb....

Morning all and welcome to some lovely new folks who've joined us on this crazy ride!

Feeling a bit funny this morning, this is the first morning in almost 2 weeks where I've not had to go into school to do something (been there every day since 2nd November with Sponsored Bounce and then counting sponsor money and taking in orders for the kids' Christmas cards!) and I now I have a very long to do list but am lacking either the energy or motivation to do any of it!

Anyway, on to today's card. I was asked to make a "Just Because" card and this seemed like the perfect image and I found a sentiment in a Kaisercraft set that went very well with it. Just in case you can't see it, it says "Friends are the most important ingredient in this recipe of life".

And, this is the first time I have managed to do one of those swirly flower type things! Always thought they were a bit too faffy. I've admired them on other folks' cards but couldn't do them myself. Well - ta-da, there it is :)

Challenges I'd Like to Enter

Creative Craft Challenges

Morning all. Eyes down, it's time for a new challenge at Creative Craft Challenges.

This fortnight our theme is

Bingo

and here is the Bingo board we'd like you to use. You can choose any line or any 4 corners but we'll be checking that you've adhered to the board!

And here is my card. I've gone for Lace, Cream, Distress (with a bit of blue and bling thrown in for good measure!!)

And boy was I distressed making this card. I'm not really a distressing sort of girl - there are others out there who do it much better than I do and when I was putting the card together I just kept thinking that it looked messy and untidy... but then when it all came together I actually thought it looked ok! Hope you agree :)
