Plot[]
In this episode, Detectives Goren and Eames investigate the brutal murder of Ashley Gardella, the rebellious teenage stepdaughter of local police officer Ray Wiznesky, who is found dead in her car in Queens after a night of partying.
The detectives probe the uneasy family relationships concerning Ashley and her stepfather, who is trying to protect his youngest daughter, Emily and his wife, Joyce (who is dying of cancer).
Nevertheless, the discovery of a cell phone records soon deflects the team's investigation in another direction, leading them to investigate Ashley's married boss, Jason Raines, the husband of supermodel Kelly Sloane-Raines, who had maintained an extramarital affair for a long time with the victim.
But when yet another supposed lover comes forward, their attention turns to a different source while resistance from the local police complicates the investigation.
Eventually, it's revealed that Officer Wiznesky murdered Ashley because of the stress that she was causing her mother with her wild antics.
Wiznetsky decides to kill Goren and then himself, knowing that if he commits suicide before he is charged, Joyce and Emily will get his pension. Goren is able to disarm Wizensky and he is arrested, but Wizensky grabs an officer's gun and kills himself in front of the police and his family.
