Rosa was spotted by her neighbor, Betty Swanson, who thought she was using her apartment for prostitution. However, it was revealed that Rosa was not a prostitute but being trafficked and raped. It was later revealed that several people were involved in the trafficking ring including Congressman Justin Howard, Ruben Ortiz, and Dr. Catalina Machado. (SVU: "Wolves In Sheep's Clothing")
Rosa was asked to testify at Howard's trial and describe what he did to her. She went through her testimony with Carisi. Before Howard's trial, Rosa was repeatedly harassed and saw a group of men outside her apartment which caused her to flee with her son. (SVU: "And The Empire Strikes Back")
