The Bavarian Shield is a rounded golden shield that was recovered by Jackie from King Ludwig's castle in Bavaria, Germany.
History[]
Season 1[]
On an archaeological expedition to King Ludwig's castle in Bavaria, Jackie Chan and his colleagues successfully uncovered the hidden treasure room containing Ludwig's lost treasure. Before Jackie and his team could properly assess the riches, however, a booby trap triggered by one of Jackie's followers threatened to seal them inside, forcing the group to flee. Despite managing to secure the escape of his colleagues, Jackie found himself trapped inside. When a volley of arrows shot out from the walls, Jackie instinctively picked up the shield to deflect their incoming fire. Spotting a narrow opening in the wall beneath the ceiling, Jackie made his escape by sliding down a steep ramp atop the shield until breaking through the castle's exterior and crashing into the mountainside.
Back at San Francisco, Jackie left the shield in his Uncle's care for further study, eventually intending to donate the piece to the university he worked with. Meanwhile, Valmont (who had observed Jackie and his team in Bavaria) had dispatched his three Enforcers; Finn, Ratso and Chow to retrieve the shield from Uncle's shop. When the three returned to their master empty-handed after being thwarted by Jackie, Valmont instead sent Tohru. Whilst Captain Black (who had also been monitoring Jackie's activity in Bavaria) introduced Jackie to Section 13, Uncle phoned his nephew to inform him that he had translated a set of ancient runes inscribed onto the shield, determining that they were magical incantations whilst inferring that the shield itself was not of importance. Before Uncle could explain any further, however, Tohru made his way into the store and abducted him, demanding the shield from Jackie in exchange for Uncle's safety.
With Jade's help, Jackie successfully discovered Uncle's hiding place for the shield and met Tohru atop a skyscraper downtown to exchange the shield for Uncle's return. Apprehensive about surrendering the shield to the Dark Hand, Jackie managed to distract Tohru long enough for Jade to whisk Uncle to safety, leading him down the stairwell to the front of the building. When the Shadowkhan arrived to Tohru's aid, a chase ensued until Jackie tossed the shield down to Jade and Uncle. Before they could both escape with it, however, Tohru intercepted them and seized the shield, prompting the Shadowkhan to abandon their chase.
After the three regroup at the front of the building, Uncle was finally able to explain that the magic he spoke of lies not within the shield, but rather the talisman embedded into the center of the shield, upon which Jade pulled the talisman from her pocket, having possessed the foresight to remove it from the center before surrendering the shield to Tohru. Drawing attention to the sign of the rooster etched onto the face of the talisman, Uncle inferred that there were eleven more talismans in existence.
Back at Valmont's office, Tohru returned before triumphantly presenting the shield to his master. However, both Valmont and Shendu immediately noticed the empty space in the center of the shield where the talisman should be, scorning a bemused Tohru for his failure.
Season 4[]
Upon his release from prison, Daolon Wong sought the Déjà Vu Stone to rectify his past defeats. When Jackie attempted to prevent him from activating the stone, the two were flung back into fragments of their respective past experiences, losing the stone in the process. Eventually, Jackie found the stone and used it to take him and Wong "back to the beginning", whereupon the two were transported to Uncle's shop the very day Jackie returned home from Bavaria with the shield. Right on cue, Finn, Chow and Ratso entered the store to inquire about the shield, upon which Jackie told them that Wong had it, resulting in Wong being dragged off by his future Dark Chi Warriors for interrogation.
