Tomato is a species of enemy in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. It includes two diminutive members, the Alraune and Deadly Nightshade. These two enemies possess two different sets of abilities. Deadly Nightshades are among the weaker enemies, and their Speed is their biggest asset. Etymology[]

Alraune is the German word for mandrake and is also the title of a German novel published in 1911 about the daughter, named Alraune, of a prostitute that has an overactive sex drive and no concept of love. This is based on legends which state that witches who make love to the mandrake root produce offspring that have no soul or feelings of love.

Deadly nightshade is the common name for atropa belladonna, a perennial herbaceous plant whose foliage and berries are extremely toxic and cause a bizarre delirium and hallucinations. Witches were believed to use a mixture of deadly nightshade, opium poppy and other plants in making flying ointment.

As the Deadly Nightshade and Alraune are family of genus plant/Mandragora, they appear mostly like an Alraune King (Alraune) and Rogue Tomato (Deadly Nightshade).
