FFXII[]
There are Espers in FFXII aswell. Surely they should be on this page. Crucifer 7/7/2007

Esper Template[]
I made the FFVI Esper template because the old setup didn't show the images too well and it waaaay too much white space. I believe the new setup will be better (especially when we add the colors), but I will not add them to the rest of the Espers until this is agreed upon. Also, in case someone jumps the gun, if an Esper only teaches 4 spells, skip s3 and use the four others, and in case it only teaches 1, do the exact opposite.
I like it, but as you said, it does need colour.
Crazyswordsman - Final Fantasy VI, because Drake says he wants to link to FF7 every day, which is bad because that game is so far inferior to FF6. TALK - 21:22, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Diablo, you're in charge of the color. Also, I added the data that Hecko missed. Finally, there's no such thing as "Thunder elemental." It's "Lightning elemental." Why? Because Thunder can't cause any harm, whereas Lightning can.
I would have appriciated it if you had told me of the missing data, so I could have added it in a way that still makes the template look good. With the current setup (by this, I mean "with the new stuff you added in the way you added it"), stuff gets stretched or pushed together and looks screwed up. Also, for my future reference, where did you find the information?

You have Master ZED to thank for the info. And if you want to screw with the template, that's fine so long as no info gets removed.
Not really helping... I need some sort of link so that I too can access whatever information that's missing and add it to the article.

Excellent, thanks. I'll do the necessary changes in the morning, I'm headed for bed right now.
I like the box, but I think it should have an area where the GBA name is shown, because a lot of the GBA names are dumb and confusing compared to the originals. The only way I can keep try is by the spells they teach. Tritoch became Valigarmanda. WTF is that!?! Tritoch, simple, easy to remember, and you can actually *say it*! And it's relevant too, Tritoch, tri-touch, tri-elemental, three spells, Tri-Dazer! Anyone know what the hell Vali-gay-Maranda means?
Ahem...anyway, yeah, my two cents. And it's not just the Espers, but everything in the game has a complicated Japanese name. No offense to the Japanese, but I don't speak it, so I don't wanna have to try in my video game! The only way I know what I find is because I remember where and what everything is from the Super NES/Anthologies release.
Actually, it's seldomly Japanese names they use. The names are usually from mythology of most European, Middle Eastern and South Asian countries (the hardest ones are usually Punjabi or Norse). As for Valigarmanda, I honestly have no idea, but it's probably a mix of three other names (I'm guessing the "gar" part is short for "Garuda", a mythological Sun-bird, which would explain the fire-affinity and the wings). As for Tritoch, my best bet comes from what little Native American mythology I studied some time ago. They have/had a mythical birdlike creature called Tatooch that was able to control the elements. "Tri" is then a limiter, so it only controls three.
Would it be alright if I finished adding in the new template?

Just create a sandbox page for you to experiment under your username, and then show it to Hecko later.

The Hope of More[]
This is my favorite FF game by far, and im completely obsessed with magic in fantasy. So the ending of it made me sad. But playing through again recently, I noticed a solution: There was at least one esper that, after being utterly destroyed was able to reform, and stronger than before. That was Phoenix.
Since its so depressing of an ending, i think this one event could be extrapolated into the needed magic system of any sequel. This is of course, just my personal point of view of the events, and was basically wondering what others thought, or if anyone had other ingame information to justify a return of magic?
This also has practical purposes: Ive beaten this game once. Oh, sure, Ive played so many times, maxed out characters, etc etc...But I dont want it to end, so I just start a new game. 74.128.56.194 23:57, June 4, 2011 (UTC)
Imperial Raid[]
Much like the claim that Terra is 18, I do not believe that the attack happened 16 years ago and would much like to see some official word from the developers on this. The GBA remake, which many seem to think is more accurate, states that it happened about 20 years ago - which would also make Terra 22 by extension.--68.6.234.179 02:15, July 27, 2013 (UTC)
Splitting this article[]
I think we should split this article up into different ones, as it's about 3 loosely related subjects, which are summoning the Espers, the magicite, and the Espers in the game's lore. Proposal:
| |||
- Don't mind splitting Magicite, the other two things can remain here. You're right about Summon not being a command, but Summon abilities going on the same page as lore is essentially policy. We could put ability info in Magic but... I'm not fully convinced we should (though I'm not fully convinced we shouldn't). JBed (talk) 11:35, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
- Keep the summon info and lore together on one page, yes to splitting Magicite as a separate article. --Drake Clawfang (talk) 16:16, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
- Moved the info to its own page, but I still kind of think that the summon attack info should go on the Magic (FFVI Command) page because it's used by the same command and is the same kind of ability. That said, summons are very different to other magic because they're only used by one esper at a time, though, so it's not too bad, I guess.-- Technobliterator TC 17:33, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
