Increases MP by 10%.
Description
MP+10% is a support ability in Final Fantasy IX for Freya, Quina, and Eiko. It raises their maximum MP by 10% for the cost of 4 Magic Stones, and stacks multiplicatively with MP+20%.
Obtained[]
MP+10% is learned from Magician Cloak, Magician Robe, Emerald, Magician Shoes, and Extension for variable amounts of AP; Eiko learns it the fastest at 15 AP, where Quina takes the longest at 50 AP.
Magician Shoes is an Add-on that everyone can wear, and is first found in Cleyra's Trunk. To get it, the player needs to have recruited Quina, and to make it to the town of Cleyra and fall into the sand pit there with Quina to access the ledge where Magician Shoes are. After reaching the settlement and watching the ATEs "No Yummy-Yummies!" and "There A Mushroom!", the player needs to head to the pit right of the town entrance, and Zidane will jump in after Quina. The shoes can later on be synthesized in synthesis shops.
Magician Cloak is first bought in Conde Petie, so Eiko could learn MP+10% as soon as she joins (Quina leaves the party as Eiko joins). Magician Robe is first sold in the Treno Auction House, accessible when Princess Garnet and Adelbert Steiner visit the city with Marcus, and is available for synthesis after the party returns from the Outer Continent. The first Emerald is obtained by talking to the High Priest in Cleyra as Freya.
Extension is an extremely rare find in the Chocobo Hot and Cold minigame, and so the player could get it even before going to Gizamaluke's Grotto, but the chance of it turning up is tiny. It is later on made in synthesis shops and from giving Moguta a Kupo Nut after the party has returned from the Outer Continent.
Mechanics[]
MP+10% raises the party member's maximum MP by that amount. It stacks with MP+20%, in that when both are equipped, MP+20% adds 20% to the already-raised MP, resulting in 32% increase over the original MP. Eiko is the only party member who can do this.
Use[]
MP+10% is helpful to equip to allow spellcasters go longer with their resources before needing a top up. It is also fairly cheap at 4 Magic Stones, and so the player can keep it equipped for the rest of the game after learning it. Though Half MP is overall more useful, the player can easily keep both equipped.
