Melu Kolupu (English: Awakening) is a 1978 Telugu, drama film, produced by A. Pundarikakshaiah on Sri Bhaskara Chitra^[2] and directed by B. V. Prasad.^[3] Starring N. T. Rama Rao, Jayaprada, K. R. Vijaya in the lead roles and music composed by Master Venu.^[4] The film is remake of Hindi Movie Jagriti (1977).

Plot

Dayanidhi (Nagabhushanam) & his assistant Parabrahmam (Prabhakar Reddy) are past thieves after releasing from the jail they wear a mask as a devotees of the country and live like most respectable citizens in the society. But in underlying they perform my illegal activities such as gathering orphans making them as thieves in the name of children welfare society, women extortion in the name of women welfare society etc. Ramu (Master Raja Krishna) & Chitti Babu (Chalam) are few thieves among their home. Once Ramu meets Susheela (Jaya Prada) who lives in a prostitute house but always protects her chastity. Ramu is affectionated towards her and from that day he takes care of her as his own sister. Govt is fed-up with these crimes and they appoints a special C.I.D Officer Shekar (N. T. Rama Rao) to catch the criminals. Once Shekar catches Ramu becomes and sends him to Boston School.
