A simple name and role list can't be a copyright violation as it is a just a simple list derived from the credits with no original creative content. Descriptions would be more of an issue and could be left out for now. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:40, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a copyvio, that source page listed above is clearly copying from Wikipedia and in fact much of the text was present when this article passed FAC in 2012. The constant reverts is confounding to me, and I see no reason why the voice cast section should not be restored, just as it was present when it was promoted to feature article status. DanCherek (talk) 21:41, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Geardona: (Replying here to reduce Nthep's talk page notifications...) My guess is the 2001 indicates the film's release year rather than the website publishing date. The giveaways for me are the matches between the FAC-promoted version and the website; the way that the summary starts out exactly as every film article on Wikipedia does, and the credits section being a copy-and-paste from the Wikipedia article's infobox. I agree that they aren't properly crediting Wikipedia, as many websites unfortunately don't. DanCherek (talk) 21:57, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will plan to restore the section unless there are further objections (tagging previous reverters, Sjones23 and MrOllie); given the above, I don't believe it's a copyright violation, and given that all of the content was there when the article was passed at FAC, I don't think it's undue. (This is regarding the "Voice cast" section only, not the edits to the plot summary.) DanCherek (talk) 22:05, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As was said earlier, it contained a possible copyright violation, leading to its removal. On Wikipedia, we have to be extremely careful of copyright violations and take them very seriously. After responding to the suspect copyright violation, I requested revisions to be deleted to eliminate the violation. As it turns out it was a backwards copy, so the other website copied from us. The revisions are being undeleted now that the problem has been resolved. Geardona (talk to me?) 13:16, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mako001: Can you explain your revert at 23:15, 10 February 2024 (UTC) yesterday? As explained above, I think it is exceedingly unlikely that this is a copyright violation. DanCherek (talk) 15:25, 11 February 2024 (UTC) DanCherek (talk) 15:25, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that was a crappy revert. I should probably have actually had a closer look at what was actually being claimed as a copyvio instead of just taking someone else's word for it. It would be sensible to reinstate it. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 21:36, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just wanted to chime in real quick here, I personally hand wrote that entire section using my own thoughts and prose one night studying for my college exams while viewing the supplemental features DVD from the boxed DVD set. I wish the source in question would attribute that, but alas they are my words nonetheless. DrNegative (talk) 18:02, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
