Maximum size

[edit]

The maximum size is listed as 44 lbs. This seems incorrect, zander do not grow this large. I added the current world record size (25.3 lbs) and citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:558:6014:62:DCBC:19C6:C79F:59F (talk) 20:33, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Finnish language version of this article states the official Finnish zander record as 16.7 kilograms (37 lb), so either your claimed 25 lbs world record is way off the mark or we're talking about different species. Also, given that the Finnish 37 lbs record is not all that different from the 44 lbs world record mentioned in this article — and I don't think Finland has any claim on the world record for zander — I'm going to assume that the 44 lbs is not incorrect. Hence, I'll remove the 'dubious' tag. DoubleGrazing (talk) 20:49, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Note that the 25.3 lb record is "the IGFA All-Tackle world record" which presumably implies a specimen caught with a rod and line. This does not contradict the possibility of larger specimens having been observed and/or caught by, say, netting. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.193.131.207 (talk) 00:01, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
