Returning (Mar)

I was a reviewer in the past, though was not very active due to having more interest in starting new articles myself. I have been involved with a couple of edit-a-thons recently where I shared my experience and advice with newer editors. I've reviewed the criteria again, and am interested in helping review. I would be happy to review articles for creation, providing assistance/guidance to editors who clearly have good intentions. = paul2520 💬 21:05, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hope you're having a great day so far! I'd love to join the project and make myself useful here. I've become familiar with the deletion policies and hope to be a good addition to the reviewer team. 😀 — TGHL (talk) 05:19, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have thought about it in the past and have been reviewing pending changes for some time. That being said, I have reviewed the instructions multiple times and have experience with notability and independent sources. I would like to branch out in a different area to help out. Thanks. I also have some Afc history from back in 2014 but only for a short time. Chris1834 Talk 20:22, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm fairly active in speedy-deletion tagging, and there's a large backlog here. I plan to be primarily but not solely declining under the quick-fail criteria to reduce the burden on other participants. I'm very familiar with the GNG, and to a lesser extent the entire notability guideline. I have also read the reviewing instructions. Twassman | Talk | Contribs 02:36, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have been actively editing for sometime now mostly creating new articles. I want to contribute in other areas when I'm not working on new articles and I think I should start from here to help reduce backlog. Luciapop (talk) 09:36, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't generally like to do this but I would like to register a strong objection to the continuation of Kieran's AFC perm. There are a series of really questionable, exceedingly promotional and poorly sourced AFC accepts, redrafitications by other editors and full on deletion in the history here. Salutations! I am SoyokoAnis and I would like to become an AFC Reviewer. While I haven't created any articles myself successfully I have re-read most policies and I believe becoming an AfC Reviewer would be a great start. I have read the reviewing instructions and the notability policy and the deletion policy. I have also participated in AfD discussions. Thanks, SoyokoAnis 01:56, 4 March 2021 (UTC)![reply]

I want to make it faster for users to have their drafts reviewed. I often see users wondering how long it will be before someone reviews their draft, and it bugs me that I can't help. In the past, I have helped a couple of new users out with their drafts before they submitted them, helping out with things like red links and references. βӪᑸᙥӴTalkContribs 17:42, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am actively editing for the past couple of months and has already created 52 articles (only my first article have been deleted so far) and is well aware with the notability criteria. Hello, I am requesting temporary right so that I can practice reviewing. If my reviews will have a problem It will be ok to remove the right. I have seen bundles of articles waiting in the list for review, so I want to contribute in position manner. I already have PCR and Rollback rights. Thankyou. Iflaq (talk) 18:40, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. While I appreciate the enthusiasm, the majority of your edits appear to be vandal-fighting; it is a worthwhile activity, but doesn't necessarily demonstrate that you understand the notability and content-related guidelines enough to be granted AFCH access. That being said, come back in a month or two and I would be happy to look at a new request. Primefac (talk) 13:21, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've been hanging out on Wikipedia for a while: I've spent a fair amount of time on RCP, and I've made 115 articles (including 16 DYKs and 1 GA). As for reviewing others' articles, I have reviewed a fair number of DYKNs and GANs, and have participated in a slew of AfDs. This is a different process, certainly, but I think it could be a fun change of pace. Mostly, I hear people complaining a lot about how there aren't enough AfC reviewers, so I figured I would give it a shot. I can't promise that I will review ten thousand submissions, but I'd like to help out where I can. jp×g 05:20, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Already read through the general instructions on how to review an article. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 08:25, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. While I appreciate the enthusiasm, there are a few too many issues for me to feel comfortable having you review drafts, mainly having to do with sourcing, fair use, and the fact that most of the AFDs that you nominated were closed as keep. Primefac (talk) 13:21, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: My last AfD nomination was a month and a half ago. I have a much better grasp on notability guidelines and fair use by this point. I had to learn about those at some point– it seems unfair to penalize me for things I've already accepted and learned from. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 18:24, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I already regularly help improve Draft articles made by other users, and have participated in several AFD, PROD discussions. I admittedly need to read more up on CSD, and would exercise discretion in areas I am not strong/confident in. I would request to be on 3-6 month probationary status and seek feedback/let others handle a task, if I am unsure what to do. I am quite inspired by WP:HEYMAN case. I understand the distinction between a low quality article, and the inherent WP:NOTABILITY of a specific topic. Reason for requesting afc helper script rights

I am requesting afc helper script rights because:

1. I meet the requirements to be a participant in this WikiProject.

-My account is over 90 days old as I created it back on July 24, 2014 nearly 5 years ago.

-I have over 500 undeleted edits. According to xtools, of my 1,837 total edits I have made so far, 1,626 of them are live (87% of them).

-I have thorougly read the reviewing instructions (I'm not sure how to prove I actually read it, but if you want any proof I am happy to provide some).

-I have definitely demonstrated understanding of the policies and guidelines mentioned in the reviewing instructions, including the various notability guidelines. According to xtools, 87% of my total edits are live, and of my 104 created articles, only 29 have been deleted. Having looked through [Page creation log] it looks like only four of those articles were deleted in the last year, and only one was deleted in 2019. The rest of my created articles that got deleted, were deleted more than two years ago, when I had far less understanding of Wikipedias notability guidlines. I have since familiarised myself better with Wikipedias noteability guidlines, and as such, am not suprised that most of those deleted articles that I created were deleted years ago.

-There is lots of reasonable evidence I understand the deletion policy.

-I definitely have a willingness and ability to respond in a timely manner to questions about any review that I get. I'm quite active on Wikipedia, having made 222 edits so far in 2021 (according to xtools) and have been active on Wikipedia most days this year. I also have email notifications set up for any messages I get on my user talkpage, and have email notifications on my iPhone, so my phone basically notifies me of any messages I get on Wikipedia. If there is a way to do something like, or some other way to get a phone notification for any questions about reviews I get that are made on my user talkpage, I will see most review related questions I get within the hour they are asked, and can then respond to them ASAP.

2. I would like to help with the backlog of draft articles submitted for review.

If you have any questions or comments regarding my request feel free to contact me and I will get back to you with a response ASAP. Greshthegreat (talk) 02:27, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Greshthegreat, 30% of the articles you have written have been deleted. Half of the articles you created in 2020 were deleted, but yet you have not commented on a single AFD. I'm concerned about such metrics as it indicates that you might not understand the inclusion criteria. I'm on the fence but leaning no, barring a reasonable explanation or insight as to how this will not affect your reviewing. Primefac (talk) 19:45, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Primefac, thanks for the reply. I can provide a reasonable explanation as to how half of the articles I created in 2020 being deleted will not affect my reviewing. Of the pages that were deleted last year that I created:
-The most recently deleted article I created last year, about Hester Ford (the oldest living person in the United States), had a lengthy deletion discussion here, before it ultimately got deleted. Many users sharing differing opinions on wether it should be deleted or not and was noteable enough for an article. I had thought it was noteable enough, but after that discussion occured, and it eventually got deleted, it was clear that the article was almost noteable enough, but not enough so to be kept in the mainspace. I've since started a draft for the article here. I will only submit it if for a review if Hester Ford (who the article is about), becomes quite a bit more noteable, and meets the issues brought up about their notoriety.
I have also proven that I understand these things in my recent creation of a similar article about Lucile Randon (the worlds second oldest living person and oldest survivor of COVID-19) on March 23, 2021. That article is still up in the mainspace, has not been proposed for deletion, and is about a person who is far more noteable (as well as having lived a very long time just like Hester Ford).
-I created three articles about a few teleconference and in person rallies held by then President Donald Trump, during his re-election campaign ahead of the 2020 Presidential Election, but they were deleted for not being noteable on there own, except for being held by a noteable person. I haven't created any articles about events or political campaign rallies since then, but have familiarized myself better with the noteable events inclusion criteria, so I understand that better if I do create any articles about noteable events in the future. Additionally, all of my other articles about events that I created prior to those three deleted ones, have been kept, such as 2020 Salute to America, South Dakota's Mount Rushmore Fireworks Celebration 2020 and Mountain Fair.
One article I created this year was deleted, which was about the PPP Extension Act of 2021 (a bill introduced in the 117th United States Congress, to extend the covered period for people and businesses enrolled in Paycheck Protection Program). It got moved to a draft by another editor since I had forgotten to cite sources for it. After I added a few sources and expanded the article, I submitted it for a review. However the submission was declined, and the reviewer suggested it be merged into the existing article, Paycheck Protection Program. The following day I proposed it be merged into that article, by leaving a mesage on the talk page about the merge to see what other editors think before I do anything. I'm waiting to here from other editors.
All of my other articles I've created this year about bills introduced in the 117th United States Congress have not been kept, as I have tried to only make articles that I think are noteable enough for there own articles.
Every other article I created that got deleted, was deleted in 2019 or earlier.
If this explanation is not good enough, you are welcome to put me on a probation or I can make another submission after the issues you brought up have been met. Greshthegreat (talk) 20:42, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Greshthegreat If we set that on one side, I wonder if you would mind addressing the lack noted by @Primefac of comment at AfD. I ask because our work as reviewers is to pre-handle AfD likelihood, accepting only drafts that have a good chance of surviving an immediate deletion discussion Fiddle Faddle 21:40, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About a month ago, I've asked to become an AfC reviewer but was rejected by @Primefac: for not having a lot of undeleted edits. So I've worked harder and gained over 700 undeleted edits with my deleted edits under 10%. I've also created some other articles (more on the way). I hope to become an AfC reviewer to speed up the draft articles and not letting them wait for too long. Hello. I have read, and understand the Reviewing instructions. I also have a good grasp of WP:Notability and WP:Deletion policy. I decided to request rights because I recently began working on my first article at Draft:LinuxConsole, and after submitting it for review, I noticed the backlog of thousands of AfC submissions that might take months to review. I realized a great need for AfC, and New Page reviewers so I've put in a request there as well. I hope my draft and editing experience is enough evidence I understand how to help in this area. Thank you for your consideration. Huggums537 (talk) 11:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting afc helper script rights: I have helped several new editors fix up articles that are laden with promotional material and grammar mistakes, and I have helped to remind editors of the conflict of interest policy, while still helping them to get their articles published if they are notable enough and covered by reliable sources.
