wolterbot listings have not appeared

[edit]

I subscribed Wikipedia:WikiProject Graphic design to wolterbot's cleanup listings last year. As the "wolterbot coming soon" message is still on the pages, I began to wonder if I subscribed incorrectly, or if something else needs to be done to get things rolling. Thanks for your time and trouble. UnkleFester (talk) 02:35, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New bot dump.

[edit]

Just a quick note, there's a new bot dump for Wolterbot to go through. Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 01:14, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they seem to come in every 5 days now. However I was away from the machine where WolterBot runs. Will try to catch the next "fresh" dump, around Oct 15. --B. Wolterding (talk) 22:46, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Listing

[edit]

Can you have Wolterbot update Wikipedia:WikiProject South Dakota/Cleanup listing? I saw that it had updated some but not all of the cleanup pages and was wondering if you could get around to this one? Spiesr (talk) 16:59, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The subscription template had been removed from the project page, therefore the listings were not updated. I have re-added the subscription, you should see the updated listing soon. --B. Wolterding (talk) 19:56, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I see you are active at the moment with edits in the last few minutes. Today's update

[edit]

Thanks for the update. However, I have a question: I noticed that articles from categories "coordinates missing" and "need cleanup" do not appear on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Lithuania/Cleanup listing. Is that intentional or some bug? Renata (talk) 00:29, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Renata. No, that's nothing to do with the Lithuania listing specifically. The bot basically scans Category:Wikipedia cleanup categories and its sub-categories; and for some reason, both Category:Articles needing cleanup and the "coordinates missing" categories (Category:Articles needing coordinates) had been removed from there. I have fixed this for both now, but I'm unsure about "Coordinates missing". Are these considered "cleanup"? Should they be in a "cleanup listing"? --B. Wolterding (talk) 22:07, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks. I think they should be in the clean up listing. There is something wrong with the articles & they need fixing. I wanted to thank you for making these lists. Very slowly I am working on cleaning up some of the oldest articles in my pet project and your listing is the best! :) Renata (talk) 22:34, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that the coord missing is a cleanup item. Lacking that information does not mean the article is really missing anything or that it is bad. Vegaswikian (talk) 01:00, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Been a while since I heard from you (the WP:AALERTS requests and bugs are starting to pile up). Hope all's well and a merry 2010. Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 17:39, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Could you take a look at Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Biographies_of_living_people#View_by_Balloonman.2Ftechnical_option and let us know if your wolterbot could be adapted to do this?---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 22:15, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There has been a lot of discussion recently about unreferenced BLPs as some admins started summarily deleting them. We were wondering whether:
  1. Wolterbot would be willing to take on some additional projects.
  2. Can WolterBot allow projects to adopt a category or does it only work on the project tags on talkpages?
  3. If a project signs up to Wolterbot will they get their first report based on the November dump or will they not get a report till you next process a database dump?
  4. Could Wolterbot possibly give a little extra emphasis to the unreferenced BLPs to alert projects to the possibility that those articles may be about to be deleted.

Chess project

[edit]
From: User talk:Ikip

The chess project uses cleanup (WP:WikiProject Chess/Cleanup listing) but the unreferenced lists BLPs only. Can it list all unreferenced articles? Bubba73 (You talkin' to me?), 02:27, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent request for bot run

[edit]

Bert, I have recently added the Wolterbot template to a great number of country Wikiprojects' main pages. Could you please run you bot once again, now. I'm aware that the bot will run on a dated database dump, still, the results will still be highly useful. It will provide the country projects a list of articles in dire need of references. It will also identify those unreferenced BLP articles that have already been deleted for being unsourced, not stating importance of subject, housekeeping, and all other sorts of reasons, for which BLP articles presently are summarily deleted with little oversight. We need that list as a basis for transferring articles to the incubator or for requesting undeletions. Power.corrupts (talk) 19:53, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hello B. Wolterding. I added subscription for your bot to the WikiProject Czech Republic. Yesterday, I created page Wikipedia:WikiProject Czech Republic/Cleanup listing, where I'm adding unreferenced BLPs. Suddenly, I realized that existing page may confuse your bot (to be honest, I know absolutely nothing about operating a bot). I hope I didn't cause any confusion. If any problem arise just let me know, I'll move the content to my user subpage so we can delete it. Thank you, and apologies for my stupid questions :) --Vejvančický (talk) 15:14, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Contemporary music

[edit]

Hi. Apparently the bot hasn't run since November, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Contemporary music/Cleanup listing. Would it be possible to get this going again? Thanks. --Kleinzach 11:34, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have to wait for the database dumps?

[edit]

These lists are very useful, but do you have to wait for the dumps? Can you not have access to the toolserver or some other backdoor? Also, given the recent issues with unreferenced BLPs, these should be highlighted or listed at the top of your list, not hidden in the middle. Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 07:18, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately yes, the bot needs database dumps. (And I would rather have it not to, because each time a new dump comes, it takes half a day alone to import the relevant portion of the data into my database.) But the bot is very resource intensive, and needs to run on its own machine. On the toolserver, it would probably block everything else that runs there for several hours. --B. Wolterding (talk) 22:10, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-clericalism

The Anti-clericalism article needs rewriting. I don't know how to notify the WikiProject Atheism about this. --Tediouspedant (talk) 00:28, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Random question

[edit]

Hi, Bert! I'm not sure if you know the answer, but since you do much work related to project-tagging, I thought I'd ask. Do you know if there is a tool with the functionality of Special:Random, but limited to a specified WikiProject? If not, do you know if building such a tool is theoretically possible (not necessarily by you :))? Thanks!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); March 15, 2010; 15:29 (UTC)

I'm quite sure that there is no such tool on Wikipedia itself, because the software internally "does not know" about project tags at all. It would, in theory, be possible to build such a tool: You'd need to download a database dump to your computer, extract the project--article relations from it, and choose at random from this data. This tool would, however, work on your computer only, and not for other users. For a while, I used a similar approach for tagging articles that had no project tags on them. --B. Wolterding (talk) 22:17, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This might not be quite what you want, but User:AnomieBOT/RandomPage can be used in specified category combinations (and project banners can and do add categories). Check out how I've used it at Wikipedia:Venezuela-related_regional_notice_board#Proposed and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/randomunreferencedmultiple (the latter showing how to get around the bot's limitation of only being able to have one update entry per page: make subpages and transclude). Rd232 talk 11:58, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Anomiebot is indeed not quite what I had in mind, but it's the closest thing available, so I'll probably make use of it (the database dump will not work for me for reasons outside my control). Thanks much for pointing out that option! Best,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); March 25, 2010; 12:37 (UTC)

Rerun to update now-corrected listing errors

[edit]

Hi, I've gone through Category:Subscriptions with errors and cleaned up over 100 cleanup listings with errors (mostly subprojects that didn't provide the necessary banner/category details). If you could please run the bot again to update these listings, that would be great. I've deleted the erroneous listing subpages, so you could possibly tell the bot to skip listing pages that exist, if that saves time. Thanks! Rd232 talk 18:16, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AAbot broken due to API Update

[edit]

So it looks like because of a API update involving logging in, AAbot broke. When do you think you would have an update by, as it seems the entire system is broken right now? LegoKontribsTalkM 22:54, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would be more than willing to help. I have done clean up on a number of boxing articles, and extensive clean up on Andrew Golota, and Riddick Bowe. I know that many more are in dire need, and the ones that I have touched up are a long way from being finished. Please let me know where I can be of further assistance. OK, I see. I've added a cleanup listing request for WikiProject Boxing; this will be generated the next time the bot is run. Hopefully that won't be too far into the future - but that's entirely up to the busy-in-real-life B. Wolterding. Rd232 talk 11:24, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:48, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article Alert Bot

[edit]

Hello, I just wanted to suggest that you post the code for Article Alert Bot somewhere so that in the event of breakage (such as due to the recent API update) someone can update the code and run a new version without having to bother you about it. Article Alert bot is such a valuable tool for the WikiProjects it would be a shame if it ever had to be discontinued due to people not being able to update the code. Kaldari (talk) 18:36, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Agreed. I no sooner found out it existed -- and was about to make sure various projects had it -- than I discovered it had been down for months and no one could try to make the necessary adjustments without you. Pretty please? Lawikitejana (talk) 21:37, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Agreed. It is sorely missed. Arlen22 (talk) 18:46, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how to edit articles but I at least got to this point. Simple format edit needed. One of the .jpeg files is overlapping a text box to its right, obliterating important info. The offending .jpeg is of the painting of the Committee of 5.
