Archive requests

- Please see pages which can be archived, listed at the bottom of WN:ARCHIVE. Special requests for protection/archival can be listed below.
- Markie (talk · contribs) quite frankly created a mess of our archiving efforts when he recently used AWB to archive stories. Heaps of articles have been archived with the regular {{Archived}} tag instead of the {{Archive-unreviewed}} tag for bot archiving. --SVTCobra 09:45, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Um, how many is heaps? Can we get a list of these somewhere, to go back over manually? Cirt - (talk) 09:51, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- From Markie's contributions on May 10, I'd eyeball it and say dozens. I know of no other way to generate a list. --SVTCobra 10:01, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Okay that's helpful. Cirt - (talk) 10:18, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- err, mess... okay, thanks. all it looks to me is that the archive tag is in the wrong place, but hey, i can move that for the next run. also i didnt do a bot run, AWB is not a bot, it has to be supervised, and all i used it for was the generating of the list of articles needing to be archived, and then adding the archive tag (thus why i didnt use the un-supervised tag). after those had been done i then manually checked the pages and applied the protection to them. overall the use of AWB to make my life easier somehow has managed to turn the whole process into a mess. if i had supressed AWB in the edit summary would a) anyone have known i was using a "bot" and b) caused the same mess, cause thats where i would have stuck it anyways. it doenst really cause any changes in the layout wheres if its stuck with the pub tag it can shift other templates down. but hey i obv dont know what im doing, so id best leave it to you to enjoy. only around 2000 pages left, happy archiving! --MarkTalk to me 15:50, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- I tried to fix as many of the article as I can yesterday (although I did in no way fix everything. In fact, I fixed hardly of it). Markie, AWB isn't perfect, it can't add cats, move the sources so they are in order or revert some late edits. AWB is a bot, just only semi automatedAnonymous101
:)
15:55, 11 May 2008 (UTC)- maybe some bolds were needed in my above comments. ...i then manually checked the pages and applied the protection to them...--MarkTalk to me 15:58, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- I just chose a page you archived at random and it didn't meet the policies laid out at WN:ARCIVE. By the way, it is great to see users like you archiving, just double check you folllow WN:ARCHIVE Anonymous101

- You both need to pay more attention to detail ... see this diff and history. --SVTCobra 16:21, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Aslo see the 8 pages I archived where you did not need to do that. Maybe you coulsd of given me a minute to check the pages if you wanted to complain Anonymous101
:)
16:33, 12 May 2008 (UTC)- See that's the problem ... because of your sloppy archiving it has become necessary to double check. That's not the way it is supposed to be. So far I have found problems with most of the articles you have archived as per our talk yesterday. I haven't looked at all of them. What the hell do you mean "given you a minute"? To do what exactly? --SVTCobra 16:42, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

==Clearing the backlog in 16.6 days==
We currently have 749 articles to archive. Presuming we have 5 admins archiving 10 articles a day, with 5 new articles a day, we can clear the backlog in 16.6 days. (unless my math is wrong) Please sign below if you are willing to hepl with this:

- err you may want to see User:Markie/To archive, awb makes that around 2000 stories, where did you get 750 from? --MarkTalk to me 21:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
