From Latin Taurus (from taurus (bull)), from Ancient Greek Ταῦρος (Taûros); compare Aramaic תּוֹר (tor), Arabic ثَوْر (ṯawr). Latin taurus (bull) is a doublet of steer, tur, Tavros, and Tarvos.
