Christoph Benzmüller

edit

Hi BoyTheKingCanDance, you added the Wikipedia:Notability (academics) tag on my created article Christoph Benzmüller. According to criteria #5, an academic is notable when holding "a named chair appointment that indicates a comparable level of achievement, or an equivalent position in countries where named chairs are uncommon", which is fulfilled (which is also cited). Please let me know what kind of further references you need or please remove the tag again. Best, MaxEmanuel (talk) 15:42, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi my new friend MaxEmanuel, I hope you are fine. Thanks for contacting me. I'm familiar with the criteria, but I'm unsure why you think you have demonstrated equivalence with a named chair. I'm not being difficult. Like you, I edit in good faith. Maybe you could just direct me to your referenced point. I hope this will be ok. I'm not dogmatic and I'll be glad to remove the tag. Thanks so much. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 15:46, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi BoyTheKingCanDance, thanks for helping me to improve the article. I just added more references to demonstrate that the article should also pass the WP:PROF criteria #1. Further, an h-index of 36 and 5284 citation is quit high for computer scientists. I had the discussion about criteria #5 once for another article [1]: In Germany, named chairs do not exist, the highest position is the W3 professorship, just called chair, which is the case.
Best regards, MaxEmanuel (talk) 16:29, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the tag, dear MaxEmanuel. Thank you also for helping me to learn. Some of the criteria look objective, but actually they need careful and reflective interpretation. You are a wise editor. Glad to know you. Thanks again. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 16:36, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello dear 𝒮-𝒜𝓊𝓇𝒶. You do great work on Wikipedia! Well done! Regarding this particular article, I just think you need to add some other references to make NGC 1165's case for notability even stronger. I did a Google search and this galaxy is indeed well covered. I just don't know which are the strongest sources, otherwise I would add them myself. Rising Insane

edit

Hello, I had just built the page Rising Insane from the ground up which is why it would be nice to get some assistance in building it from other users. There is also a German language page to this very article, unfortunately I am prohibited from using translation tools as I am not exactly bilingual. Sthacker21 (talk) 06:35, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello my new friend Sthacker21. I hope you are fine. Thanks for contacting me. I'm not an expert on this type of music, and I do not read German, but it seems to me that you need to establish notability. I'm not sure that you have yet proven significant coverage. Do you know of other reliable sources that you could add? You have the basis of a very good article, so I think you are nearly there. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 06:39, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just so you know I read that criteria under Notability (music) and one of the requirements said: Has won first, second, or third place in a major music competition. Under Nation and Impericon Festival (2017-2019) in the Rising Insane page, I have listed that they won the Next Generation competition in the jury prize category and the reward was the opportunity to perform at the Impericon Festival in Leipzig. Also they have 4 albums, 3 of them under Long Branch Records, an indie label under SPV GmbH, which is one of the largest labels in the world. Would you consider that notable? Sthacker21 (talk) 08:11, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
My friend Sthacker21, I would not consider that their win in the Next Generation competition satisfies the criterion because it's not a "major" competition. And it doesn't matter by itself if they have four albums, all of which could be non-notable. I'm not saying they are non-notable, only that their existence alone does not establish notability. But I'm just an editor like you; doing my best in good faith. You could of course ask on the Rising Insane talk page for other editors' comments about the prize, or you could just go ahead and remove my tag. I certainly am not dogmatic, and I won't edit war. By the way, your citation 6, mentioning the prize, is a blog. A blog is not considered to be a reliable source (except in rare circumstances. see WP:BLOGS. Very sincere good wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 08:20, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I went ahead and started a talk page for this. I'll see if that will gain any traction among viewers. I should inform you that I had just been recently unblocked and this is only the first band article I built. There are others in this genre I intend to start up, for the English version that is since there are some in different languages. Sthacker21 (talk) 09:48, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's great. I'm open to being wrong and will gladly learn from whatever advice fellow editors give us. Thanks for your courteous nature. I appreciate you. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 09:50, 27 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Help for the article Principal equation form

edit

I sincerely and honestly ask you to help me improving and enhancing the Wikipedia article Principal equation form because I do not know how to transform the mentioned bare URLs into covered URLs. I simply have no idea how to do that. So I wish you would help me. And I really hope that this Wikipedia article really is an acceptable article in relation to the mathematical content. I put a lot of effort into this article. So I have the hope that this Principal equation form Wikipedia article gets the positive green light.

Hi my new friend Reformbenediktiner. I will be glad to help. Leave it with me to fix the bare URLs. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 15:48, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello again dear Reformbenediktiner, I've fixed the citations and done a bit of formatting in the literature section. Please let me know if you ever need my help again. It will be such a pleasure. My regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 16:18, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Third message from me, sorry. To learn how to format citations based on internet pages, you might find the Template:Cite web guidance page helpful. Good luck. Regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 16:46, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I faithfully thank you for your determined genuine help. You made it very good. Now everything seems to be fine. But I have one further question about you. I ask myself if you are also a mathematical expert like User:Titus III and User:A1E6 are. And I ask myself if you also have a big knowledge especially about algebra and infinitesimal analysis. And I also have the question if you know the mathematical functions in a brilliant way. If yes, if this is the case indeed, then this would be magnificent and excellent too. But I also have a positive attitude towards you if your strong subjects are other ones. Oh yes, I definitely have a very good affirmative opinion to you. Because you really decide to help me and you clearly give the impression of being a friendly person. And this is what I really estimate positive. But I must tell you something. I need to inform you about a very specific characteristic of mine. Once I start editing a Wikipedia article, especially one that is mathematical, I relatively quickly develop into a whirlwind, often even a hurricane of mathematical formulas. This means that the formulas then flow in a huge gust or flood into the articles. And accurately this is what has already caused many other especially German Wikipedia users to be extremely envious and even inimical towards me. Many of those German users decided to get rid of me. And on the German Wikipedia, a big group of users have banned me completely, mainly because of this, but also because of an increasingly massive conflict. In other words, in front of many German Wikipedia users I am already on the blacklist. So I wanted to get secure that this will not happen in the English Wikipedia too. In this English Wikipedia I want to maintain and keep my access to editing the articles upward. Therefore I decided to create articles myself instead of enhancing other articles that already exist and are made by other users. I do not want to mess with other Wikipedia users. So I hope that you accept my edits of the articles. And I hope that from now on in the whole I will be viewed and considered positively by the users of the English Wikipedia. I realize very well that from now on I have to be more careful than before. From now on, I will try very consequently to show as much solidarity as possible. May I succeed in this. Have a nice Christmas and New Year time! Yours faithfully and sincerely! Ranaghat Government Polytechnic

edit

Hey, I saw you marked this article as reviewed, don’t you think this article fails to meet WP:NSCHOOL? GrabUp - Talk 17:28, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, my friend GrabUp. Actually, I thought it did just meet the criteria. I haven't ever reviewed many schools so I'm keen to do better and I'll be glad to learn more. Do you have a minute please to highlight what makes you disagree. That way I can make expertly informed decisions. Thank you very kindly. By the way, I've been far far more careful since we last interacted. I hope you can see I've improved a lot. This has meant I've reviewed fewer pages, but I am confident that I haven't repeated my earlier mistakes. Thank you again for your help with that. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 17:33, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BoyTheKingCanDance: Schools and colleges are not inherently notable; they must meet the criteria outlined in WP:NCORP or WP:GNG. This requires multiple reliable sources discussing the college in depth. However, the article does not cite a single SIGCOV source. Could you explain why you thought it meets the criteria? GrabUp - Talk 17:42, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. My rationale was that it was a diploma awarding school and that it was mentioned in a number of third-party sources that supported the main points provided in the article. I saw this as important in the establishment criteria for SIGCOV: "Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material." Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 17:46, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sources should be independent and reliable. Which source cited in the article do you believe provides significant coverage? GrabUp - Talk 17:52, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not one in itself, but the collection of third-party sources that establish the claims made. Thank you for your guidance on this matter. I will be strict with your advice. As I said, I am in fact trying very hard. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 17:53, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
So, which policy states that being a ‘diploma-awarding’ college is inherently notable? It still requires multiple significant coverage to meet GNG OR NCORP, correct? GrabUp - Talk 17:56, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. I will learn from your guidance and I am wondering whether I might in fact, when questions arise regarding various decisions in my mind, ask you for advice. I believe that over the last three months I've been far, far more careful and haven't made an unreasonble number of errors. Certainly no one has raised with me the possible error of a reviewing decision until day. But I'm still learning the criteria for some subjects areas and I'm sure that I can do even better still. As I said, I have marked far fewer pages as reviewed than before, and I'm trying hard to reduce my errors to zero. Thank you again, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 18:01, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I’m not here to discuss what we previously talked about. I came here just to point out that schools and colleges are not inherently notable. You marked this article as reviewed, but it does not cite any independent, reliable sources with significant coverage. Please don’t shift the focus to your NPP work—I’m not here to judge your NPP work, and the fact that no one has complained about it is a good thing. However, this will ultimately be determined when you request a renewal of your rights.
But you said Certainly no one has raised with me the possible error of a reviewing decision until day, just by looking at your talk page, I can see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/NGC 1165, which you marked as reviewed and it has been taken to AfD and is likely to be deleted. Thank you for your work, but considering your vote on that AfD and your argument in this matter, I would recommend that you not simply state, “There are sources I saw,” or use the reasoning Not one in itself, but the collection of third-party sources that establish the claims made. When you claim that there are sources, you should cite them directly. GrabUp - Talk 18:26, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you again. Actually, I have mentally tried to use you as my quality yardstick, so I am disappointed that I have fallen short this time. Yours sincerely, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 18:31, 30 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

First off, I should say that I do not intend to move it back, but not necessarily for the reasons you gave - my (personal) rationale is that it's a bit ridiculous to have single sentence articles like this in the encyclopedia. In any case I will leave it to the creating editor to do what they wish with the article.

The reason you gave for moving it was more sources needed and I wondered what specifically you wanted more sources for. If it is for notability, then I'd submit that it meets WP:GEOLAND as a populated, legally recognized place, and can therefore be presumed to be notable. And I don't think it can be for unsourced material in the article, as it is literally only a sentence, and all the facts are covered by the India census reference. Which also counts to substantiate both populated and legally recognized. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 11:34, 5 January 2025 (UTC) if you are very keen to weed out single sentence articles about small villages like this, there are quite a number of them around :) Reply

Hi my new friend, SunloungerFrog, thanks for writing. I appreciate it. I think my logic was that the source the creator cited did not bring up the named place. I did try it here: https://censusindia.gov.in/census.website/search/node?keys=Ellapuram . I therefore wanted to see other sources for the place so that notability could be confirmed. I hope this clarifies. Next time I'll add more prose explanation. By the way, I tend to do the same thing with Indian places where the only source is to a post office. There are literally thousands of post offices outside legal towns. I'd be interested, please, to know whether you think my rationale is reasonable. I'm always keen to learn from others. Thanks again. Ha it was me that added the source. I've done a lot of investigation to see if it's possible to link the actual place in the URL, but I don't think it is. If you go to the link in the reference, https://censusindia.gov.in/census.website/data/population-finder, and enter the name in the box at the bottom of the page, you should get the information that I used. If you do figure out how to make a direct permalink to the specific information, I'd be very pleased to know how to do it! Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 12:00, 5 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi again, dear SunloungerFrog. How fascinating: I had used the search box at the top of the census page (which didn't bring up the named place), not the one at the bottom. Actually, I don't know how to make a direct permalink either. I've tried over the years with no success. With much respect, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 12:05, 5 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
On the post office front, I would do the same. Only because I don't know much about the Indian postal system, and how big post offices can be. WP:Reliability of GNIS data, and in particular the Propagation of errors section is quite interesting here. It's more about American post offices, but there is discussion that sometimes they are actually quite tiny. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 12:10, 5 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh thanks so much. This will help me a lot. I'm grateful to you. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 12:11, 5 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question

Hello, just a quick question- how did you learn all those languages? What tips would you give to those aspiring to learn a new one as well? Your repertoire (probably misspelled that) of languages is very impressive. (3OpenEyes's talk page. Say hi!) | (PS: Have a good day) 20:43, 5 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
