Problems with an article
editHi, right now I am posting this from my school's server, and I have a problem. This usually does not happen when I'm at home, but this is bothering me. I was reading the Communications in Antigua and Barbuda article, and it tells me that I can't edit it. Is it something on the school's server, or what's the story? I love broadcasting, and I was thinking of writing down all that I know about each country's broadcasting system, and thus I wanted to start off with Antigua and Barbuda (by stating that its main broadcaster is ABS (Antigua and Barbuda Broadcasting Service) and that it uses the same TV and radio standards as the US). Have any other users experienced this same problem?

Look at source
editWelcome, colleague! Glad you liked it, thanks for nice words. To your question: any time you wonder how things work, feel free to click on Edit (no need to click Save!), and you'll see the source. Double curly braces such as {{CURRENTTIME}} (result=13:25) mean that you are dealing with WP:Templates. Cheers. ←Humus sapiens←ну? 04:57, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

editDid you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Broadcasting in the Soviet Union, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page. |
Catholic Church of Wikipedia
editAn anonymous user, 65.96.95.126 (talk • contribs), with a history of vandalism has added your user name to the members list of the Catholic Church of Wikipedia and has edited your user page. I see that you have identified yourself as a Catholic, but many "real" Catholics are offended by the Wikipedia parody. If you want to be a member of the church, feel free to leave your name there. However, you might want to remove it. Thanks. --TantalumTelluride 21:22, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- If you're an American, how do you not know who Will Rogers is?! Anyway, you don't need to fix anything if you don't want to. I just wanted to make sure you wanted to be a member of the CCW. Some vandals have caused a lot of confusion in the past by signing with other users' signatures. When I noticed that an anonymous user with several warnings on his talk page had added your user name, that was a red flag. --TantalumTelluride 21:59, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Schism
editThere is a category (which I belong to) called "Roman Catholic Wikipedians". I was wondering if you'd switch to that one, because in my eyes that is the main Catholic Category. It has dozens of users which just don't appear under the Catholic Wikipedians Category. Chooserr 21:57, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
Re: 65.96.95.126
editThe address for your school was blocked in response to a spree of vandalism, primarily on Boston Red Sox. I will lift the block on that IP, but if the original vandal returns, I will have to put it back in place. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 19:44, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
Assyrian Articles
editHi their, well I'm gland you liked what I have posted. Which articles were you specifically talking about? I am a Chaldea-Assyrian from Iraq. I am currently in Detroit, but I go back and forth from the States to Iraq throughout the year, every year. I am glad that people are finally started to getting to know who we are, because sooner or later we will become instinct and vanish into history if we dont bring awareness of the hardship life of Iraq (did you see the bombings of the 4 churches yesterday?) Chaldean 21:37, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well I am happy that it has opened one person's eyes. Check this article about the bombings of yesterday: [[1]] It says 150,000 Assyrians have left Iraq since the beginning of the war.
Anyways, I do believe in diversity as well as I have personal friends from every part of this world. Lets hope for peace in the world among all of us. All the best Chaldean 21:53, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Well Dan, their isn't much a single person can do. But I strongly urge you to write a letter to your representive stating facts about whats going on with our people. They only thing a indivual can do is bring awarness to a problem. It's funny how a stupid cartoon is drawn in Denmark making fun of Islam and the whole muslim world orrupts and reacted vigesly, but when our churches get bombed, you don't even hear it on the news or have any western politicians bring it up. Important WikiProject Automobiles Discussion
editHello! As a Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles member, I just thought you might want to input your opinions on an important discussion we're currently having about whether articles regarding similar vehicles should be merged into one or split by brand. If you would like to comment or read further, please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles#Articles of Similar Vehicles. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and feedback. Enjoy broadcasting do you?
editNo, this is not some sort of test to see if you really like broadcasting, as that title may lead you to think. I just came across your page and saw you had an interest in broadcasting, and I was recently thinking of proposing a project on radio broadcasting but don't see too much interest in the subject. If you might want to get a project running and help organize/create a lot of this stuff, leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. PeteShanosky 03:21, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
- Got your message on my talk page, and I'm glad to know you're interested. If you wish, you can propose the project now and I will help out as much as possible. However, currently I am looking for more support before officially listing it. PeteShanosky 02:08, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

editI've left you a reply to your question about merging the two articles. Stude62 01:07, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
Automobile templates
editIt's easy to create a template - just edit Template:Vauxhall and Template:Holden then add {{Vauxhall}} or {{Holden}} to the articles. I'd suggest starting with a simple list of vehicles as in Template:Honda rather than a complicated timeline like Template:Buick at first. But if you like the timeline, then have at it! I'm happy to answer questions and monitor your progress as you learn. --SFoskett 13:44, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Rhode Island - Economics
editHello there, I was working on the disambiguation of links for Depression and ended up at the Rhode Island page; I think that you introduced some material about the economic history of RI. I've assumed that your use of Depression referred to the Great Depression, but perhaps you could confirm this was your intended meaning. Take care. Thanks - Politepunk 18:02, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
GMI stuff
editHi Dan. Never heard of the Nullarbor. The results of a quick Google search make me think it's just an option package on the Jackaroo, named after the Nullarbor Plain. Here's a photo of a Nullarbor (Holden, not the plain) [2] - it's just the good old Bighorn with a different nameplate. I guess you just need to ask some Aussies about it - JoeT or other mates should know.
As concerns the Rodeo/Rodeo redirect, what can I say. Both Holden and Isuzu articles are a messin general. That is why I proposed the COTW, to sort it our methodically one by one. Bravada, talk - 01:01, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Dan, thanks for taking a look at my stuff - I would've almost forgotten about it. Now, do you believe it makes sense to try to replace the Kalos and Gentra articles with that, to avoid confusion and proliferation of redirect pages such as Chevrolet Aveo? Bravada, talk - 21:20, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
- I know, thanks for correcting that. I always have to mind it with countries like Romania and Colombia, they are spelt almost identically, but with an "u" in Polish. So, thanks for correcting me! Now, I take it you mean it's ok to try to transfer my stuff to the Daewoo Kalos article? I'll try to do that and we'll see about that. I would be most grateful if you could double-check for factual accuracy! Thanks! Bravada, talk - 14:26, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- With all due respect for Boivie, this picture is borderline TakeMeHigher, if you know what I mean. We have a very nice Fair Use pic of Aveo hatchback in the article now, which displays the subject appropriately and following most of the guidelines agreed on here. I don't see any reason why the (with all due respect again) should be reintroduced.
- Any other thoughts concerning the revamped article? Perhaps we might try to reference it and then nominate for GA? Bravada, talk - 16:30, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- Dan, there is no pic in the main box, I am not sure what you're referring to. Are we both talking about the new version of the Daewoo Kalos article? As concerns the rear, should there be a pic of appropriate quality I'd gladly include it. There are still many articles illustrated with only one photo, I'd have quality over quantity here given we have three good photos already. Anyway, how about starting the referencing thing, could you go first, I'd feel much better not doing it alone. Bravada, talk - 18:12, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
PS. Do also take a look at Passenger vehicles in the United_States, there's a bit of activity there and I sense potential for a really good article.

Well hello!
editIt's nice of you to have thought of me :D In case you didn't know, I left GMI after the athmosphere around my person started getting dense - it was fun, but then I was often running in circles and just annoying other users with rather pointless banter (not to mention it consumed WAY to much time :D ). I have found editing Wikipedia to be much more rewarding, and shifted most of my online "leisure" activities here :D Oh, btw, if I can be referred to as a fountain of anything, it's fountain of incredibly vain self-admiration :D
I will gladly help you with Eastern European media anyway that I could - just tell me what you need and I'll see whether I will be able to do something about that. I am not that much into media, especially of the "past period", but I speak Polish and read the TV guide from time to time :D
Knowing that your second language is French, I was wondering whether you might be interested in some non-GM automotive action concerning Simca, Chrysler Europe and Talbot cars. I am currently working on Simca Vedette, Ford Vedette, Simca Ariane and other vehicles of that period with some seasoned editors. If you had a moment, you are cordially invited to come on over :D Regards, Bravada, talk - 16:07, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your contributions to the Ford Vedette article! I was wondering, however, whether it wouldn't be better to start a separate article on Ford SAF rather than make the intro so lenghty - most of this information is only remotely related to the Vedette itself. Secondly, the source you used is, in general, frowned upon - however nice Matt's writeups can be, this is just an AOL user homepage. I have personally discovered all the information he had concerning the Talbot Tagora or Chrysler 180 could be found in other, more reliable sources (he had some facts and dates mixed up). Finally, creating a neat-style reference is fairly easy. You need to use the <ref name="sumfink>{{cite web...}}</ref> tag/template combination. For every other use of the same ref. in the text you just need to type in <ref name="sumfink/> (mind the slash!). The citation template for online resources is here, browse the category for more. Cheers, Bravada, talk -
Hello again! My email address is bravada-at-o2-dot-pl (though you can use the emailing function both here and @ GMI, it works!), I will be glad to help you anyway that I can. The article you mentioned should first and foremost be moved to "Polskie Radio i Telewizja", as I believe there is no reason for the forced translation. As I said, I don't know much about the historic stuff, I could perhaps help more with the contemporary, but I'll try to dig out something. Like try to find out whether it was really called that way, as I am not sure, actually. That is, when I'm finished with the Chrysler 180, which I am in the middle of :D Regards, Bravada, talk - 14:16, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
GMI thing
editWell, GMI opens OK for me (Firefox), or opened just a moment ago, so what is it exactly you would like me to do? Bravada, talk - 20:01, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I've sent Swahili a message, I hope I managed to get your message accross. I suggested him to answer in your WP talk page to make things simpler (it can take some time until I check that I got a message from him and stuff).
- So, is there anything else I could do for you? I know that I completely neglected the Polskie Radio and Telewizja Polska thing, it's just that whatever I touch recently I end up entangled in nasty edit wars and find myself getting unsolicited angry messages on my talk page, while not actually advancing the case. Another thing is that, like I said, I don't know much about the history of TV or radio in Poland, and the sources I have at hand are rather, well, skimpy. I might take a stab at expanding the stubs on present-day TV stations in Poland though, like TVN24, but I first have to gather enough strenght to weather the impending storm... Bravada, talk - 20:37, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Shelter
editHey, nice work finding the links on the Shelter (automobile) article! I went out of my mind trying to find online references. I never thought anyone would find a picture, although the guy with the picture seems to have found part of my text. I've expanded our little work of art accordingly. :) - Lucky 6.9 16:08, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
PS: Anyone who digs Mercedes-Benzes, cars in general and broadcasting is OK in my book.

Wikiproject Automobiles Notification
editHi DanCBJMS, you were on the list of members at WikiProject Automobiles and we are introducing a new way of listing members, as the old list was becoming too long. Our new method involves having all of our members in a category.
To add yourself to the category just add the userbox to your user page by putting {{Wiki Auto Project}} where you want the userbox. Alternatively if you don't like the userbox you can add [[Category:WikiProject Automobiles members|DanCBJMS]] to your userpage.
If you no longer wish to be a member of the project, simply don't add the userbox or category, there's no pressure. Thanks for your time, James086Talk | Contribs 05:03, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Regarding "Communications in St.-Pierre et Miquelon"
editThat was a mistake on my part. I thought PAL and SECAM were interchangable and compatible. i'll remove that. The Pages i viewed ([3] and [4]) listed them as using PAL as well...perhaps that was becuase SECAM-K/SECAM-L and PAL-B are interchangable? RingtailedFox • Talk • Stalk 22:51, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Russian car industry
editI've taken a look at Automobile industry of the Soviet Union and while there are no serious errors, the article could definitely use some expansion. For expample, there are some major bus and truck manufacturers which are not listed, such as Russian KamAZ, UralAZ, IZh, LiAZ, KrAZ, PAZ and others, Belorussian MAZ, BelAZ, Ukrainian LAZ, Latvian RAF etc. There were also lots of small factories which specialized in custom trucks and buses built on well-established platforms by ZiS and GAZ, as well as trolleybuses, which are very popular as a means of public transport, etc. Unfortunately, even when the information is present on Internet sites, it's mostly in Russian, so it's out of your reach. And the most definitive sources would be Russian printed books and journals...
As for the broadcasting article, it seems OK... do you have any specific questions? User:DmitryKo 17:17, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
