So far I've done scattered editing of articles I've come across for other reasons (or in some case using the "random page" function). When I've got the hang of things I may settle down and write or help out with some more substantial articles.
Some articles I've been involved with are:
- biographical articles on Richard Lewontin and Romila Thapar are in pretty good shape.
- Java and other Indonesian articles
- Gamelan needs some expansion, especially the section on cultural context. I really should create List of gamelan ensembles in Australia (using as a model List of gamelan ensembles in the United States).
- Shivaji - given Shivaji's status as a Marathi hero, there are obvious problems working this into encyclopedic language. Also, some of the contributors are enthusiastic but have poor English. This article needs mammoth amounts of work.
- South African Jews - I got a somewhat prickly reception here. This really needs a full rewrite, though there's a similar problem with people who have good background knowledge but poor understanding of source use.
- Wombat and Ferret seem particularly prone to vandalism.
- Race and intelligence is an obvious minefield. I've been loathe to get involved, though it's clearly not neutral at the moment.
Projects:
Outside the English-speaking world, the countries I've visited and therefore have a special interest in include Indonesia and in particular Java (I play in a gamelan), India, Pakistan, Iceland, and Mongolia. (Also Spain, France, and the United States, but there are plenty of editors working on those countries.)
There's more about me than anyone wants to know on my home page and you might also want to check out my book reviews. [[Danny Yee]] was greatly improved while surviving a second AFD.
