Player's name
editPlease stop changing this guy's name to Jean-Francois Lescinel - that is incorrect. His name is Lescinel Jean-Francois as used in all literature and content at Sheffield United, used on the back of his shirt and confirmed by the player himself who says he is fed up of people getting it wrong!! Unfortunately some online sources use his name incorrectly but Jean-Francois is his family name!! Bladeboy1889 (talk) 09:39, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- I've moved the article in accordance with that, but what we really need is some sources to properly verify his name - the ones given seem to be ambiguous (and some are dead links) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 14:33, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- It is of course Lecsinel - that was me typing it badly on my phone. There was an interview with him in the programme where he talked about people assuming his name is different - I'll see if I can find it. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 10:10, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- Could you please check the name again. I found that link which shows the first name and surname is vice versa. @xqt 12:15, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- It's explicitly stated hereBladeboy1889 (talk) 12:49, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot. I've corrected it at the other sites too. @xqt 10:50, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- Are you positive that Lecsinel is his first name and Jean-François his family name? Every French link I found states the contrary (including his WP:fr page). Now, it COULD be that every French source is mistaken, because Jean-François is a very common first name and virtually nobody is named Lecsinel as a first name. It is also true that Caribean French people tend to bear first names as family names, AND it is not uncommon for black people to bear strange, unprecedented first names. But still, the player had a youngster footballing carreer in France before playing in England, and absolutely no link I found from that time calls him Lecsinel as a first name. And confusions about first and family names for foreigners in England are not uncommon. Can you provide links where the player STATES that it is correct and not the other way around? His twitter account abreviates Jean-François into JF which tends to hint that Jean François is his first name. WOuls sound weird otherwise. Also, shirt naming proves nothing. It could be that the player prefers to have his first name on his shirt. Many players do. Alexandre Hocquet (talk) 22:46, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
