Yet another crested beauty, but much rarer than the previous two. Spotted this Malabar Crested Lark on a stone about a 100 meters from me. Took a path towards where it was expecting it to fly off. Started clicked when I reached about 30 feet away. Kept moving forward step by step while clicking. My lucky day, it did not budge till I was barely 20 feet away. Very similar to the Crested Lark but is smaller at 15 cms. and dark-streaked reddish brown in plumage, whereas the Crested Lark is grey. Also the belly is white as seen clearly in this shot. Eats insects, seeds and grains.
