English: Gravedigger's template. The coffin-shaped template was used before the mechanical digger took over the job in recent times. It is gruesomely topped with the handle of a scythe. Both are kept in the locked west tower of the church of St. Michael, Garway. With thanks to the local guide who allowed me in to see the various interesting artefacts. His dog was not happy in this area of the church and quickly left to wait for us in the nave.
