Pennine Mencap is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation based in Oldham in the north-west of England. The charity was founded in 2012 and is regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales under registration number 1150285[1].

The charity supports adults throughout Greater Manchester who live with a learning disability or autism. This includes individuals who identify as neurodiverse as well as those who experience complex multiple needs.

Pennine Mencap is an independently consistuted organisation. It is also a Network Partner of the Royal Mencap Society, an Affiliate Member of Carers UK and recipient of Action Together's Quality in Action Award.

Since 2015 the charity has been based at Rhodes Bank Chambers[2], a building dating from 1853 comprised of four merged Victorian townhouses at the corner of Union Street and Prince Street. It is part of the Mumps area of Oldham, situated adjacent to the site of the former Rhodes Bank Colliery.

At this location, Pennine Mencap holds a rating of 5 ('very good') from Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council under the Food Standards Agency national Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme[3]. The charity's new kitchen was formally opened in 2024 by local celebrity chef Adam Reid[4].

Pennine Mencap is a cause supported by Neighbourly [5], receiving donations and surplus goods from retail partners including Sainsburys, Aldi, Lidl and B&Q.

As part of the charity's commitment to representing disability in the community, Pennine Mencap participate in the annual Oldham Pride march. Pennine Mencap's Rhodes Bank Choir have performed at three consecutive Prides[6].

The charity's inclusive choir has also performed at public events in conjunction with Forever Manchester[7], Dr Kershaw's Hospice, the Terrence O'Grady Club and Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Since 2021, Pennine Mencap has also worked in partnership with Nordoff-Robbins music therapy to provide individual and group sessions[8] which have also led to public musical performances.

Pennine Mencap helps to advocate and promote self-advocacy for its disabled service users. As part of this, the charity helps to raise awareness of public issues including transport[9] and health[10].
