''The Grace Jones Story'' was [[Island Records]]/[[Universal Music Group|Universal Music]]'s first attempt to create a comprehensive documentation of Jones' recording career; starting in 1977 with her debut album ''[[Portfolio (Grace Jones album)|Portfolio]]'', and ending with the one-off Island Records single "[[Sex Drive (Grace Jones song)|Sex Drive]]" in 1993.
 
Disc one gathers tracks from her first four albums: ''Portfolio'' (1977), ''[[Fame (Grace Jones album)|Fame]]'' (1978), ''[[Muse (Grace Jones album)|Muse]]'' (1979) and ''[[Warm Leatherette (album)|Warm Leatherette]]'' (1980). Disc two includes one more track from ''Warm Leatherette'' and songs from Jones's next four albums: ''[[Nightclubbing (Grace Jones album)|Nightclubbing]]'' (1981), ''[[Living My Life (album)|Living My Life]]'' (1982), ''[[Inside Story (Grace Jones album)|Inside Story]]'' (1987) and ''[[Bulletproof Heart]]'' (1989), plus the B-side "[[She's Lost Control]]" and "Sex Drive".
