— Gusuke, Nobita and the Winged Braves
Gusuke (グースケ) is one of the main characters of the 2001 movie, Nobita and the Winged Braves.
Story[]
Gusuke was born as the only son of Icarus, a famed hero of Birdpia, and a woman named Odia. One stormy night, while flying with his wife and his soon to born son home, Gusuke hatches from his egg and is almost blew away by the wind. He manages to catch on one of his father's feather but the wind is too strong and blew him away along with the feather, leaving his parents in despair. Fortunately, he was saved by a woman who is hiding from the storm under a tree trunk. She later takes him into her family which consisted of her and her husband and names him Gusuke.
Gusuke grows up to be an adventurous and inventive boy. He befriends Milk, a girl who lives next to him and they often go to school together. However, the thunderstorm left a lasting psychological trauma on him, causes his fear to fly. He would eventually find the closure from this trauma upon Icarus' encouragement and help and to save Nobita from falling.
Appearance[]
He have a light brown fur and have a wings that he don't know how to control it until when the time Nobita falls offs from the tree. He wears his casual pilot clothes, and wears goggles. In the manga about his origin story, he didn't wear his goggles until he had his own airplane.
He also wears his pajamas and take off his goggles during sleeping time.
At the end scene in the credits, he appears flying happily and wears the flying training uniform.
Personality[]
Due to the trauma from the thunderstorm, Gusuke is afraid of flying. Despite this, he desires to join the Bird Migration Patrolling Troops, and learns piloting to make up for his inability to fly. Eventually, he overcomes his fear and learns to fly to save Nobita from falling.
Relationships[]
Nobita Nobi[]
Nobita is a good friend of Gusuke due to them sharing many similarities. It is Nobita who helps Gusuke to rebuild his plane.
Milk[]
Gusuke's childhood friend. They met during primary school according to the manga origin. Whenever he gets bullied, Milk usually always the one to help him defending the bullies.
Icarus[]
Gusuke's idol who inspired him to join the flying school. It is later revealed that he is in truth Gusuke's biological father.
Comparison between Manga and Movie[]
- In the movie his beak is rounded off and smaller than the manga version in which he has a sharper and longer beak.
- He wears his goggles many times in the manga version.
