Advertising

Kidz Bop is often advertised on television channels popular with young audiences, such as Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon; the commercials also have run frequently during the evening network-news broadcasts. The commercials typically show the Kidz Bop Kids singing and dancing to songs featured on the album. Although the albums are primarily sold through direct mail-order for the first few months of availability, they are typically sold in stores as well.

The album cover follows the footsteps of the art for the original album in the Now That's What I Call Music series in the American market..

Audiences

Kidz Bop is intended for kids; popular songs are recorded with kids singing them, with changed lyrics if they are inappropriate. This has lead to many people criticizing it for ruining songs that kids are not intended to sing.

Criticisms

Some say that, despite the albums' success, they ruin the name of the original songs sung, and also that bands whose songs have been used in Kidz Bop have "sold out." Also, they are advertised as kid-friendly songs, but this is often because songs that originally had explicit lyrics are censored, or the songs have lyrics childen are believed to be incapable of understanding. For example, one edition features When September Ends, a song by Green Day relating to death.
