The Tin Darkmoon Catalyst (暗月の錫杖) is a catalyst in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Catalyst born from the soul of the Dark Sun Gwyndolin, Darkmoon deity who watches over the abandoned city of Gods, Anor Londo. Gwyndolin is Gwyn's last born and a legitimate god, but he is also a Moon sorcerer, and this wand is boosted by faith, not intelligence.

Availability[]

Created by ascending any standard catalyst with the Soul of Gwyndolin at the Giant Blacksmith for a fee of 5,000 souls.

Characteristics[]

Contrary to all other catalysts, the Tin Darkmoon Catalyst scales with Faith instead of Intelligence, making it useful for Faith builds. Players are still required to meet the minimum intelligence requirement to cast the spell, so it may be more efficient to pair this catalyst with lower intelligence spells that still benefit from magic adjust like the various soul arrows or Great Magic Weapon.

203 magic adjust at 40 faith is very doable, unlike Velka's Talisman which scales a bit worse. This makes the Tin Darkmoon Catalyst superior when planning a build that can use both Sorceries and Miracles. The biggest drawback however is having to kill Gwyndolin, thus not having access to his Covenant until the next game cycle.

In-Game Description

Staff born from the soul of Gwyndolin, the Sun in the Dark and god of the dark moon, who watches over the now abandoned Anor Londo.
As King Gwyn's last born son, Gwyndolin was a god in his own right and also a moon sorcerer. Therefore, his staff empowers sorcery through faith, rather than intelligence.
