- For other uses, see Moonlight Greatsword (disambiguation).
Old Moonlight (古き月光) is a soul-transposed sorcery in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City.
In-Game Description
- A memory of an old sword found deep within Midir.
This sorcery uses souls to grant form to the thought, and attack with it.
- Attacks are coupled with lightwaves, and sustaining the stance before attacking increases their speed and potency.
- The sword is named after moonlight, but it is slightly different than the one fashioned of the paledrake Seath. Perhaps it is rooted in an older memory, from not long after the Beginning.
Availability[]
Obtained by transposing the Soul of Darkeater Midir with Ludleth of Courland for 15,000 souls.
Effect[]
The caster conjures a Moonlight Sword with the staff and holds it ready. It can be released at any time, performing a crosswise horizontal slash like Soul Greatsword while also unleashing a moonlight wave like the Moonlight Greatsword. FP is only consumed upon releasing the attack, and the caster can move slowly with the sword at the ready or roll to cancel it. The spell is made up of two components, the Moonlight Sword and the moonlight wave; the Moonlight Sword inflicts 1.25 times the Spell Buff of the catalyst as Magic damage, while the moonlight wave deals 1.5 times the Spell Buff of the catalyst as Magic damage.
If the spell is held for 2 seconds, the sword is charged with moonlight, increasing the damage dealt by the wave by 57%, causing it to inflict 2.35 times the Spell Buff of the wielded catalyst as Magic damage. The damage dealt by the sword itself is not affected by charging it. A charged beam deals damage comparable to Great Heavy Soul Arrow, and will out-damage even Crystal Soul Spear if both the sword and the charged beam connect on the same target.
