Item Discovery is a gameplay mechanic in Dark Souls II.
Overview[]
Increasing Item Discovery improves the chance for enemies to drop items. It is useful for obtaining rare items that would be otherwise difficult to obtain.
It was originally a visible stat displayed on your character stats screen in Dark Souls that adjusted with factors like the items you wore and if you were human or hollow. In Dark Souls II the stat is hidden, but there are items that are known increase your item discovery. In addition, the Bonfire Intensity in the area also changes the Item Discovery of the area.
Every 100 Item discovery increases the odds of every possible item an enemy can drop to increase by 1%. Enemies in NG+ and Co-op may change the loot tables that are rolled when they die.
