Chaos Eaters are enemies in Dark Souls. They are located exclusively in Lost Izalith.

Location[]

There are two found on the upper levels of Lost Izalith and six more (four don't respawn) located through a destructible floor, in a pit close to Siegmeyer of Catarina. A total of four chaos eaters can be farmed each pass.

Description[]

Chaos Eaters are large and sickly yellow colored creatures with six trunk-like appendages that act both as arms and as acid sprayers while their cylindrical body, vaguely reminiscent of a sea anemone, a gaping maw on the top and a myriad of almost-human eyes that never stop rolling and scanning the surroundings.

They are able to grab and throw their opponent into their gigantic mouths, located on top of their heads, swallowing and excreting them through one of their "legs". They can also spray a corrosive white mist through said legs, quickly damaging the player's equipment.

Notes[]

  • Despite having multiple eyes, it is still possible to sneak up behind them.
  • Falling or using a plunging attack on the ones tied to Siegmeyer's questline will result in them eating the player as if they were grabbed. It can be escaped in the same way as if being normally grabbed.
  • They are the only way in the game to farm Red Titanite Slabs, although due to its extremely low drop rate, using Humanity or a Covetous Gold Serpent Ring is recommended.
  • The Chaos Eater vaguely resembles the transcended Kushan Emperor from Berserk.
