Bandit DSII
"A merciless outlaw. High dexterity, skilled with bows; fights well at various ranges."
— Character Creation

The Bandit is one of the classes in Dark Souls 2.

It has high Dexterity and well above average Faith, meaning it lends itself rather well towards builds focused either on both or only the former (though it will have strong competition from the Swordsman when it comes to pure Dexterity builds). It is rather unsuitable to spells, even the Miracle ones, due to its extremely low Attunement and Intelligence.

Bandits are actually unable to speak to Straid of Olaphis by default, the only class that can't do that, due to its extremely low Intelligence not meeting his minimum required amount of 3.

The starting weapons are somewhat mixed, with the Short Bow following the higher starting value in Dexterity while the Hand Axe instead focuses on Strength. The Hand Axe is most likely better replaced with an actually Dexterity-focused weapon, though those are in limited supply until Blacksmith Lenigrast's shop is opened, mostly the Dagger in Things Betwixt and the Halberd in the Forest of Fallen Giants. Beyond extra weapons such as the Spear and the Rapier, Lenigrast also holds the game's first infinite supply of ammunition (merely more Wood Arrows, but still) and another Short Bow.

Until an unlimited source of arrows is acquired, they are best either saved for trying to pull individual enemies from groups or ambushes, or for trying to kill one of the early Ogres (either the one outside the Firekeeper's Hut in Things Betwixt at the start of the tutorial that also holds the Stone Ring, or the Scholar of the First Sin-exclusive one on the way towards the Forest of Fallen Giants) for a large amount of extra Souls.

The class's Bandit Set is actually fairly good, as it has somewhat high physical defences and is, together with the Knight's partial Falconer Set, the only starting set with decent starting Poise.

Due to its very low Adaptability and Attunement it has a horrible roll (a mere 5 i-frames, compared to most other classes having 8 or 9 i-frames) and needs 5 points in Adaptability to improve this to 8 i-frames.

There is a curious disadvantage to its high Vitality, higher than any other starting class: when using the Third Dragon Ring, it cannot receive the full benefit of the Flynn's Ring and will get a light decrease of 4 Attack Rating compared to any other class.

Starting Equipment[]

As with all starting classes in Dark Souls 2, the Imported Set worn before the character creation can be found unequipped in the character's inventory. It also starts with 10 Lifegems as an equipped consumable.
