Beach and Coffee

Happy Memorial Day.  So many families are spending this long weekend at the beach so I thought I would create a card with a beach theme.  It is also time for the 2018 Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop so I mixed it up with a coffee theme, too.  Coffee is a vital part of my relaxing weekend.

I used the Coffee Background from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps.  It was inked with various Distress Inks to coordinate with the colors I planned to use for the sunset.  This was stamped first and then the same colors were sponged on top.  Darker blue and brown were sponged around the edges.

JFF's Adirondack Sunset image was stamped in brown twice.  The first image was sponged with Distress Inks to coordinate with the Coffee background.  On the second image the sun was sponged with Distress Ink and the chair was colored with Copic Markers.  These were both fussy cut and layered onto the inked image.

Using dark brown Memento Ink, the “May your day be filled...” sentiment from JFF was stamped on a white rectangle.  Distress Inks were sponged over and around it.  It was layered on blue, along with the Adirondack Sunset Image and then layered on top of the Coffee Background.  A small Sizzix coffee cup was die cut, sponged with ink, and added with fiber.

Have a wonderful week.

A Mother Is Born

Yesterday was Mother’s Day so I thought I would share the card I made.  One of my favorite flowers is the Peony and so I used this flower for my card.

The Peony was stamped with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.  A waterbrush was used to pick up ink directly from the stamp pad and color the image.

For the sentiment, the Just For Fun Peony image was once again inked with Picked Raspberry, stamped on a scrap of paper, and then stamped a second time on white cardstock.  The wording from the JFF Mother is Born stamp was stamped in black on top and die cut with a Spellbinders’ Square Nestability.  Don't you love this sentiment!  I had planned on layering the sentiment in the middle of the flower, lining up the stamped image, but decided not to cover the flower after I colored it.

The card background was created by scoring both vertically and horizontally in the middle of a piece of white cards stock.  The Peony image was stamped with Picked Raspberry in each corner.  This was layered on a coordinating cardstock, along with the Peony and the sentiment, and all added to the white card base.

Thanks for visiting,

Just For Fun May Challenge

Wow!  Hard to believe it is already May.  With this new month comes a new challenge at Just For Fun Blog.  The theme for May is

Most of my cards usually use more than one stamp so this was fun for me.

I chose to use two coordinating stamps, Standing Crane and Wading Crane.  These were stamped in black on red cardstock.  After cutting them out, they were layered on red and black cardstock.

The background was created by running a piece of red cardstock through an embossing folder and rubbing black ink on the raised area.  This was added to a piece of designer cardstock and a layer of black.

Most of my cards usually use more than one stamp.  I can’t wait to see what you create with this challenge.  Get all the challenge details on the JFF Blog.
