Description

Reddition allemande de Cherbourg, le 26 juin 1944 au château de Servigny. Le général américain Joseph Lawton Collins chef du VIIe US Corps, au château de Servigny, à Yvetot-Bocage, reçoit la signature de la capitulation de l'état-major allemand, représenté par le Generalleutnant Karl Wilhelm von Schlieben à gauche commandant de la Festung Cherbourg et le Konteradmiral Walter Hennecke de dos à gauche. English: German surrender at Cherbourg. U.S. Major-General Joseph Lawton Collins (Head of VII U.S. Corps at Castle Servigny), receives the signing of the instrument of surrender of the German General Staff, represented by Generalleutnant Karl Wilhelm von Schlieben (at the left of the image), Commander of the Festung Cherbourg and Konteradmiral Walter Hennecke (left, with back turned).
