Navajo Indian dying in Medicine Man's hogan, ca.1898
Photograph of a Navajo Indian dying in Medicine Man's hogan, ca.1898. The dying man lies on a mat on the dirt floor under a blanket. Near the man, a large circular stain can be seen on the dirt floor. Clothing, pots and other containers, as well as other unknown items lay about the floor. The hogan's conical roof is held up by wooden supports and is open at top.
