Summary

Description
Eesti: Karpvähiline (Ostracoda) pildistatud mikroskoobi all kasutades 8x objektiivi. Isend koguti 2023. aasta mais Eestist Lääne-Virumaal asuvast vanast kaevandusest, mis täitub kevadel veega. Pildil on eestvaates selgelt näha karpvähilisele iseloomulik kahepoolmeline karp ning selle keskjoon, kust karp kaheks jaguneb. Kuigi karp ise on tavaliselt üsna läbipaistmatu siis, siin kumab läbi selle kollakalt loom ise. Pilt on tehtud musta tausta peal, mis rõhutab karbi sümmeetrilist kuju ja pinna tekstuuri. Valgustamisel on kasutatud peegelduvat valgust fotograafia välklambilt (speedlight), mis toob eriti hästi esile karbi pinna mustrid ja keskjoone struktuuri. Pilt on tehtud kasutades fookuse virnastamise tehnikat (focus stacking), mis tagab suure teravussügavuse.
English: An ostracod photographed under a microscope using an 8x objective. The specimen was collected in May 2023 from an old mine in Lääne-Virumaa, Estonia, which fills with water in the spring. The frontal view clearly shows the characteristic bivalved carapace of the ostracod and its median line where the shell divides into two parts. While the shell itself is typically quite opaque with a bluish-green tint, the yellowish body of the animal is visible through the semi-transparent areas. The specimen was photographed against a black background, which emphasizes the symmetrical shape of the shell and its surface texture. The lighting technique used was reflected light from a photographic speedlight flash, which particularly highlights the shell's surface patterns and the structure of the median line. The image was created using focus stacking technique, which ensures great depth of field throughout the subject.
