English: Coat of Arms of La Paz, Bolivia
Español: Escudo de la Ciudad de La Paz (Bolivia), concedido mediante Cédula Real por el emperador Don Carlos V a la recién fundada Ciudad de Nuestra Señora de La Paz (1548) en consideración a la dignidad de ser Ciudad de Primer Orden en el Nuevo Reino de Toledo (1549): 1. En la parte superior se ubica un yelmo o casco de la armadura de un caballero español rematado por una paloma blanca, símbolo de paz, que lleva en el pico una rama de olivo. 2. En la parte superior del centro, una corona de laureles que a manera de guirnalda central, es de sinople (verde) con rosas botonadas de gules (rojas) y está anudada por dos serpientes mirando hacia abajo. 3. Debajo y de fondo se encuentra el majestuoso cerro nevado Illimani, considerado como guardián de la ciudad de La Paz, también llamado como Achachila de manto blanco. 4. En la parte central como una línea divisoria se observan las aguas cristalinas del antiguo Río Choqueyapu. 5. En la parte inferior del centro, cuyo campo inferior es de sinople, representando un prado, se ubican un león en su color natural, parado, mirando a la siniestra y cobarde (la cola entre las patas), que es afrontado por un cordero de plata, parado, paciendo, y en posición adiestrada. 6. Alrededor y bordeando el escudo , una franja azur lleva la siguiente inscripción: "Los discordes en concordia en paz y amor se juntaron y pueblo de paz fundaron para perpetua memoria". 7. El interior del blasón es de damasco rojo. El escudo está coronado en la parte inferior por doramos, una de olivo y otra de laurel atados por un cinta tricolor. |
