This image was posted to WowTurkey on September 1, 2006 by kerem1979. Maybe kerem1979 in wowturkey.com is the same person as en:User:KeRR (maybe). Now, as we see, en:User:KeRR uploaded (1400×450×8, 78734 bytes) in English Wikipedia. But this image (1135×328×8, 398863 bytes) was uploaded by en:User:Flavius Belisarius. As long as I know, his trick is very elaborate. In this situation, I think, Commons:OTRS should be needed. Otherwise we'd better delete this image. I don't get your reasoning rearding the size... The original size uploaded by KeRR is larger than that of uploaded by Lavius Belisarius. Which simply means he probably reduced the size or found a different sized version of the same picture on wowturkey. I think, obviously the author possesses the largest resolution of the photo. I don't get your problem. Teemeah (talk) 11:56, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the nominator's logic seems off, and the uploader should have the largest file. I do think that User:KeRR is the same as "kerem1979", his original edit summary is "Maslak financial district at sunset. Pic taken by me - Kerem Barut" and their intention was to license it under these terms, no matter the posting to WowTurkey. Unfortunately User:KeRR hasn't been active since 2007, so I'm not sure how you're going to contact them about it. The image on the WowTurkey is very small, and also has more of the sky in the photo, though I wish I could zoom in on it to confirm its the exact same image. I'd also like to compare with the original file User:KeRR uploaded, but it may have been lost in the transfer to the Commons, unless an admin on EN can see if that exists somewhere. But assuming it is the same, does the owner's act of uploading it to a forum first take away their ownership of the image, and ability to later specify proper licensing?-- Patrick, oѺ 19:37, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded the original image from the English Wikipedia (it's now in the history of this image), so you can look for yourself. To me, however, it's definitely the same image as the one on WowTurkey. Given the somewhat surreal nature of the current version of this image, I was originally inclined to think this image was a copyright violation and not an amateur photo. But looking at the original version, it's quite clear the current version's surreal nature is just a product of Photoshop. Considering I also don't understand the requestor's rationale, I'm now convinced there is nothing wrong with this image. More than six months after the original request, it's time for this to be closed. -- tariqabjotu 21:40, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: It seems User:KeRR is the author (he provided the largest version of the file). I don't think an OTRS would be needed for that. PierreSelim (talk) 15:50, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
