Non-free logo in the meaning of COM:L. See https://trustee.ietf.org/assets/trademarks-and-logos/. Also seems to be above COM:TOO. 157.25.184.5 22:45, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- Question - if the Commons only supports images that are in the public domain or under completely free licenses, how can an organization logo be included in a Wikipedia page? In other words, to have the logo on the EN Wikipedia article about the IETF (and other similar articles on other Wikipedia sites), as it currently is, what needs to be done? Just trying to understand how to comply with Wikipedia guidelines. Thank you! (I am a participant in the IETF and am interested in ensuring the accuracy of the article.) - Dyork (talk) 19:15, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
- I believe fair use allows for these things. I can't cite policy but I reviewed this in the past and have uploaded logos and have not been smited. Kvng (talk) 16:31, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- Wikimedia Commons does not allow fair use: Commons:Fair use. This is not English Wikipedia. --77.50.104.110 03:04, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
- Another question - looking at log of where this logo is used, I count 41 articles across 33 Wikipedia versions. If this file is deleted from the Commons, do each of those 33 Wikipedia versions have to go and upload the logo independently to have it appear with the article? - Dyork (talk) 22:17, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Delete the 'no modifications' part makes it unfree. Also, Comment If the logo images are removed from Commons, template:IETF-Logo should be also. Arlo James Barnes 07:33, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
