FOP issue

edit

As freedom of panorama seems to be your interest (per Napranum), then you may wish to go through all the grain silo mural photographs throughout Australia. For instance:

I do not deal in this area of law, and will let you police all this.–Q8682 (talk) 04:59, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I stick well away (photographing) from the water tower(s)/silos. Some of them it is hard to focus on the structure while keeping the artwork to a minimum (de minimis). They are certainly a FOP issue but also seems odd that rates/tax payer funds is being spent so people can photograph them without having a cause to make them less copyright restrictive.
I know that there was one grain company (GrainCorp) that put commercial restrictions use of silo artwork on its sites. Bidgee (talk) 06:54, 17 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Another one I'm not sure about (but suspect not OK...): Category:OR Tambo International Airport - Statue of Oliver Reginald Tambo. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:18, 19 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also Category:Statue of Nelson Mandela (Sandton), and possibly others I just added to Category:Nelson Mandela Square... Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 21:12, 19 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
And maybe Category:A. H. Tammsaare Memorial. :-/ thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 22:00, 19 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello A1Cafel! Kindly check some image files here. I can't tell if some derivatives (photos) are de minimis/incidental or not. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 13:32, 9 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

@JWilz12345: I have nominated those I think they are not DM for deletion. --A1Cafel (talk) 07:37, 10 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

You are adding category, "Files from Flickr with bad file names" to uploaded files whose "good" names you can create.

edit

Why don't give files with "bad names"- good names, just before you upload these files? As you already know from 10+ years experience, the Flickr2Commons (F2C) tool allows users to add use "prefix selected names" which says, adds a "string to put in front of file name." Adding your files with bad file names, just pushes that name change work to another volunteer. You only get 10 uploads a day. Why not make all those 10 files each day have "good" names?

Ooligan (talk) 00:49, 16 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Because it can avoid potential duplicate uploads that might occur in the future if the files were uploaded en masse using Flickr2Commons. If the identifiers provided by Flickr2Commons are not being used, the likelihood of duplicates increases. To prevent that without uploading new files, using original names helps minimize the occurrence of duplicate, especially when uploading from an album. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:46, 16 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
So keep the parenthetical number, and change the rest of the name. - Jmabel ! talk 18:18, 16 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please, stop interrupting my edits again.

edit

Your are starting to closely follow and mimic my sequential edits, again. In fact you just interrupted me adding an appropriate PD license to my own recently uploaded files. You have done this repeatedly in the past. I respectfully request that stop this behavior. -- Ooligan (talk) 09:51, 18 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I respect your request, but I just trace those files in the cat Flickr public domain images needing specific copyright tags. You uploaded those files a few days ago, it is not "closely follow" IMO. Also, Tim Landy and Adeletron 3030 also fix the license, why don't you ask these two users to stop interrupt your uploads? --A1Cafel (talk) 09:54, 18 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Help request

edit

Dear @A1Cafel, I was hoping that maybe you could help uploading the files of this year's WEF as you did last year in another edition of the WEF? There are still very few files of this years edition.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 22:47, 25 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Paradise Chronicle: Unfortunately I was limit to 10 uploads per day, so I'm not able to upload it. --A1Cafel (talk) 15:16, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ohh, too bad. Will try to turn to someone else then. Happy editing anyway. Its always pleasant to see your name popping up on my watchlist.Paradise Chronicle (talk) 23:50, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

edit

you got your will, i will stop contributing pictures. I guess i am not the first user mobbed out by your fanatical crusade against freedom of panorama. A project dominated by self proclaimed Blockwarts of your sort is completely rotten anyhow. --Arabsalam (talk) Arabsalam (talk) 11:36, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) @Arabsalam: I know you didn't address me, but speaking as an admin: if you uploaded images that violate the copyright laws of the country in which they were taken, your appropriate grievance is with those laws, not with someone who noticed you were breaking them and prevented Commons from hosting images that would have legal problems. - Jmabel ! talk 18:18, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
As I said, A1Calafel and his buddy Ikan Kekek can triumph, after almost 14 years and over 3500 uploads I will no longer contribute anything here. I do have a few thousand photos from Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia of places that are not yet represented on Commons, but that is obviously no longer wanted. So I will now try to have as many of my photos uploaded here deleted as possible, ideally all of them. I no longer want to have anything to do with a project whose users get satisfaction from destroying other people's works and proudly display this on their user page. Arabsalam (talk) 19:00, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
(talk page stalker2). Sorry, just had another discussion with ACafel above and happened to read this interesting discussion. I hope you will get to terms with the well meant work of ACafel. And on the your files... if they violate copyright, you are free to nominate them for deletion and admins would really appreciate it. But if you have uploaded the files under a correct licence, it will be rather difficult to delete them, I once tried to help an artist to delete her own files, and her request was denied. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 23:47, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
You're kidding, this guy sees photographers as enemies whose work must be destroyed and floods Commons with junk he scavenges from the internet. This work could also be done by an artificial intelligence. He and his ilk are the gravediggers of this project. --Arabsalam (talk) Arabsalam (talk) 11:33, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

How do you know this is in the PD? The photographer could have lived until less than 70 years ago? Viriditas (talk) 02:02, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I nominated it for deletion due to potential URAA issue. --A1Cafel (talk) 09:19, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi.Have you translated the file name before nominating to deletion? It is obviously not art, but ice fractures on a glass, the same as a en:window frost Юрий Д.К 05:19, 6 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have translated via google, it turns out "Pattern on car glass", I though it was some kinds of art on a car. --A1Cafel (talk) 05:23, 6 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
