English: Burnsall Church St Wilfrid's Church in the village of Burnsall serves the villages of Appletreewick, Burnsall, Hartlington, Skyreholme and Thorpe. The patron saint is Wilfrid whose feast is 12th October. It is said that St Wilfrid visited Burnsall and preached from the banks of the River Wharfe and that he baptised converts to Christianity. Archaeological surveys show that there has been a church on the site since the 9th century. |
