| Description |
English: The Forest Service, in coordination with the City and Borough of Sitka, is reopening the Blue Lake Road to pedestrian traffic after evaluating the slump that occurred on the road on Friday due to heavy rains. Inspection by city officials and Forest Service staff determined the slump did not cause any damage to the road. The slump was approximately 40 feet long and 10 to 15 feet wide. Users are asked to remain cautious, especially during additional heavy rains. Citizens should remain aware that heavy truck traffic will continue on the Blue Lake Road, which is associated with construction of the observatory and reconstruction of the Blue Lake Camp Ground. |
