The photo was previously deleted for not having a license (tagged by me), but I restored it to allow discussion. Per Special:PermaLink/546479250#Re_deletion_of_Ray_Martin_Orchestra_Leader_photo, it might be in the public domain. According to w:en:Ray Martin (orchestra leader), the subject, Ray Martin, "became an arranger and composer for the Royal Air Force Band" and he was active from 1940s to 1980s, so the photo might be in the PD (see COM:CROWN). That may be the case, but I still think we need stronger evidence to prove it really is free. Ahmadtalk 00:27, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've found this photo online which was taken in the 1950s: shorturl.at/uHOPV As you can see, Ray is noticeably older in that photo, meaning that the one I provided must therefore be in the public domain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theenglishway88 (talk • contribs) 01:39, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted: The current template on the file page is Template:PD-UKGov/Crown copyright. This is highly unlikely, because the UK government will not publish such a photo. If it is a private and promo photo, as is suggested in this discussion]. The copyright will thus expire after 70 years. The date of the photo is not known, somewhere in the 1940/1950’s. For reasons of COM:PRP I will assume 1955 at the latest. In that case the photo must be deleted for now but may be undeleted in 2026. .. --Ellywa (talk) 19:01, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
