The Santiago de Compostela Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church in the city of the same name. It is the reputed burial-place of Saint James the Greater and the destination of the Way of St. James. Construction of the present cathedral began in 1075, the last stone was laid in 1122 and was consecrated in 1128 in the presence of king Alfonso IX of Leon. |
