Commons:Commons Photographers User Group/Board Elections 2022
Dear user group members,
I'm writing you to today on behalf of the board of the Commons Photographers User Group. The past year has been a busy one for us. In 2022, we've had more activities than ever before in the history of our group and you'll find an overview on our group's page.
With that being said, 2022 was also a year of learning for the current board members. Most of us hadn't been involved in running the Photographers User Group and we spent quite some time on getting used to our new roles. We all feel it was a steep learning curve.
That's why, at our last board meeting, we decided to ask our members whether they'd be ok with us serving for another year. Extending our board duties to the end of 2023 would allow us to continue the work we've started this year, and to benefit from the knowledge we've built over the past twelve months.
However, in the end, it's up to you and the other members of our group to decide whether such an extension of our board term should be granted. I invite you to voice your opinion on this page.

We'll gather feedback until December 27, and we'll keep you in the loop about the outcomes of this process.
Opinions
- ...it being so close to the holidays, may I suggest postponing this until mid-January? Atsme Talk 📧 13:10, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- ...I agree with postponing the elections until January, for the stated reason.-- Darwin Ahoy! 13:13, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Extend through end of 2023. The current elected governance has operated without objection. Operating elections is a labor intensive process and a term extension in the absence of new developments is fine. This group has no apparent resources, so board service is a labor of love and not one of power or privilege. Bluerasberry (talk) 13:41, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- I'm fine with the current board continuing for another year, but would have no problem with an election at some earlier time. - Jmabel ! talk 16:50, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Our idea is to start the next election process soon enough so that the next elected board can start working in january 2024. --Ailura (talk) 17:53, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Wouldn't it make sense to have the board term permanently for two years and choose a few new members each year so that there would be more continuity? Kruusamägi (talk) 19:34, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Since we are at the end of the year, I suggest that existing board members should continue. By mid next year 2023, electoral process might begin to give room for sensitization, decision making and inclusion. Thank you! Olugold (talk) 20:27, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with Ivo. It'd be better to permanently extend the board term to two years, and it makes sense to appoint/elect new members each year so that we take care of continuity.--Kiril Simeonovski (talk) 08:50, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- Just like others members I am ok to extend until the end of 2023. Happy Christmas and New Year to all --Pierre André (talk) 09:56, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- As suggested by others above: Elections of newbies every year, but for a two-year term. In the same election after the respectictive two year term: reelections. That should allow for continuity. --Wuselig (talk) 13:09, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- I am OK to extend until the end of 2023. Thanks to all. Charlesjsharp (talk) 15:22, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- I support the suggested proposal.--Liridon (talk) 18:35, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
- I support extending the term per the proposal. --Dschwen (talk) 19:45, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
