English: Signature marks are letters, numbers or typographic signs formerly added by book publishers in the margin of certain pages, as identifiable page collation helpers for their bookbinding. Some of these symbolic signs are taken from the obsolete ISO/TC46/SC4 bibliographic encoding standard ISO 5426-2:1996 (Latin characters used in minor European languages and obsolete typography), and reencoded in the universal character set defined in the ISO/IEC 10646 and Unicode standards (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC2/WG2 - Additional signature mark characters for the UCS).
