Happy Tuesday

Hello and happy Tuesday.  I am popping in quickly to share 2 cards.  My first card was inspired by the challenge at Just Add Ink #604: CASE of Yourself.  I still had my Hero Arts City Park stamps out, and was thinking I'd like to make something using those stamps again, but much simpler than the first batch of cards I made.  See here and below.  I created a distress ink background (I can't decide if it is sunrise or sunset) and kept my stamping to just that upper third of the card.  I like how CAS this card is.

My next card uses some of my oldest stamps --PTI Game On.  My newest family member is a gamer, so I broke out this little mini stamp set to make his birthday card.  I am entering this card at AAA Birthday #37: Let's Party, Retro Rubber #183: Anything Goes (8 years old?) and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layer it Up.

Three Cards

Hello and happy Sunday.  I think I am starting to get my crafty mojo back.  Such fun.  I'll start with this Father's Day card for my husband who loves to cook.  I fell in love with these little Kitchen Tools dies from Hero Arts, and paired them with a white embossed background from Kitchen Shelf by Hero Arts.

I am entering this card at Stay Crafty with a Blog Named Hero May: Get Scrappy (the tools and crock are all cut from paper scraps), Addicted to Stamps and More #429: Occasion (Father's Day), Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Add Texture, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layer it Up.

Next up I pulled out some oldies but goodies from PTI for this card.  I used dies from Life is Beautiful and Crackle and Birch background stamps to create my card using a pattern stamp for the What Do I Do With This challenge from PTI.  I am also entering this card at Just Us Girls #633, CAS on Friday #231: Butterflies, Addicted to Stamps and More #429: Occasion (Mother's Day), and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layer it Up.

Last up is a card with these cute kitties from Mama Elephant Little Line Agenda.  I fussy cut around the tops of the kitties, and then popped that panel up over a polka dotted panel I created using the lightest shades of BG and R copics.  I am entering this card at Color Hues #41 and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layer it Up.

Playing with City Park Heroscape Stamps

I had some time this week and played around with Hero Arts City Park Heroscape stamps.  It also gave me a chance to see how different inks worked with the same stamps.

I am entering this first card at The Paper Players #591:  House.  I am a huge collector of house and building stamps, so I knew I had to play along with this challenge.  This card is a nod to all those who live in a city, where their house is an apartment.  I am entering this card at Stay Crafty with a Blog Named Hero May: Get Scrappy.  Sentiments are a great way for me to use up paper scraps.  I am also entering this card at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Texture, and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Layer it Up.

Here is another version of a very similar card.  I made it an Anniversary card, in honor of the fact that today is my 26th wedding anniversary.   The trickiest part of this stamp set is the big solid stamp at the bottom of the card.  I am most happiest with the ink I used on this card, which is PTI New Leaf.

I am entering this card at the same challenges as the card above as well as Addicted to Stamps and More #429:  Any Occasion.

Time Out #214...What's Up

It is time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to make a card inspired by this quote:

"A day without sunshine is, you know, night." by Steve Martin

Steve Martin is one of the funniest and most talented comedians around, and I just love this quote from him.  How will it inspire you?  You could go so many different ways with this...day, night, sunshine, etc.  Please have some fun with this one, as it is a very whimsical quote.

Our sponsor for this challenge is CAS-ual Fridays, and I used their adorable stamp set, Somebunny, for my card.  As you can see, I was inspired by the word..night..in the quote, and created a blended background and lots of white splatters for this card.

Where will this quote take you?  I hope you have fun with it.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Trina Pham, and the Time Out Design Team.  CAS-ual Fridays is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

Time Out #213...On Vacation

It is time for a new challenge at Time Out.  We challenge you to be:

On Vacation

I was thinking about our upcoming Hawaiian vacation when I I was making my card.  I just love the slower pace of life when we are staying at the beach for a week.  Honestly, this could also serve as a card about where I live, as I am lucky enough to live near palm trees and the Pacific Ocean.  The main difference is my state of mind!

So, we inspire you to be:  On Vacation when you make your card.  Where was your last vacation?  Where is your next vacation?  And, where is your ultimate dream vacation?  We'd love to see it on a card.

Please head over to Time Out to see more inspiration from our fabulous Guest Designer, Marieke, and the Time Out Design Team.  Lawn Fawn is our sponsor for this challenge.  Details for the prize are on the Time Out Challenge Blog.

This challenge will run for 2 weeks.  I hope you will take some Time Out of your busy schedule to play along with us.

CASology Week #403...Botanical

Hello and happy Tuesday. It's time for another challenge at CASology.   This week, our cue word is BOTANICAL.   There are so many different ways to go with this cue word.  I am in need of replenishing my stash of sympathy card (unfortunately), and I always think a simple botanical image or texture works well for this kind of card.

I pulled out some Botanical stamps from Paper Smooches (still miss that sweet company) and got to work.

While I had my supplies out and creative sympathy thoughts going, I made a few more cards.  It's always good to be prepared with sympathy cards, as I typically don't feel like making them right when I need them.

Now it's your turn.  How does BOTANICAL inspire you?

As always, remember the following CAS guidelines when creating your design:
  1. One main image
  2. Lots of open space, uncluttered
  3. Limited layers & embellishments
  4. Quick & easy to recreate (Note: It may take a while to create a design you like, but once you have that design, making more should be a piece of cake!)

I hope you play along this week.

Please head on over to the CASology blog and gather some inspiration from our Guest Designer Elizabeth, and our design team.
