Stipple Coloring Technique

Hi everyone! Samantha here.

I have showed you projects in the past where I have done this Stipple technique, but I have never shown you in a video. So today I thought I would show you my process in a video so you can easily replicate this on your own projects.

I think this technique looks great for snow as shown in my video, but it could also be used to make a pretty background, or to color in something with texture. It would also look great maybe for a fur technique.

Now I hope you will give this one a try and show us what you create with it! Have a great day!

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Black Hair Coloring

Hey everyone! Samantha here, with another Tuesday Tips and Tricks segment.

To go along with our iCopic Weekly Challenge #59, I thought I would do another black hair coloring video. If you missed the challenge post, scroll down or click here. My first black hair coloring video was shown on the challenge post.

Here is Black Hair Coloring 2:

Like with anything else you color with Copics, all it takes is a little practice :)

Sami's Tips:
  • Start Light: Start blending lightly, you can always go in and add more of your darker colors.
  • Don't be afraid to use the 100 and even the 110 (which is even darker!).
I hope you enjoyed today's video. Please stop by again tomorrow because Michelle is cookin' up something great for you as always! Have a great day.

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Vintage Style

Hi everyone!! Welcome to another edition of Tuesday Tips and Tricks. Today, I want to tell you the ways I vintage-ed up my inspiration project from the iCopic Weekly Challenge for this week.  Hopefully you can take away a trick or two from today's post and use them on your entry!

Let's get started!

Here's my card:

I am not very good at vintagey distressed type of projects (I am more of a clean/bright type), but I gave it my best shot. Here's what I did to get that vintage distressed look:

I picked out some vintage style patterned paper from Simple Stories, which is now available at iCopic. This pack is called 25 Days of Christmas.

I used muted Copic colors to color in the stamp image, called Pickle with Sledge from Wild Rose Studio, and I based these colors off of the patterned papers I used. I wanted everything to flow. I used the following colors:
  • E40, E41, E42, E43, E44, E47, and E49 (for all the penguin fur, sled, fuzzy part of his hat, and ribbon on the presents)

  • YG93, YG95, and YG97 (for the presents and his scarf and hat)

  • Y28 (for his beak and feet)

  • #12 AtYouSpica Glitter Pen (Silver) for the metal parts of the sled.

Then as shown in the video, I inked around the edges of the Christmassy bingo paper and the image I colored.

To add a little more of a distressed look, I curled up the edges of the bingo paper and also of the scallop. Curled and crinkled paper always reminds me of vintage.

 Here is another close-up:

What are your best vintagey tips?? Share them below!

That's all for today, but Michelle will be back tomorrow with another project for ya.

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Copic Storage

Hey everyone! Samantha here and today's Tuesday Tips and Tricks segment is all about Copic marker storage. First, I am going to show you my storage methods and then I have found links to some great Copic storage ideas that I have found.

So to get started, I made a video showing you my permanent Copic storage. This is how I store my markers UNLESS I plan on taking them somewhere.

It just so happens that iCopic.com sells two storage racks that look almost identical to my storage container shown below.
The only difference I can tell is that this one has smaller (but many more) cubbies. Click here to see the product page for this storage rack!

And also this one, which might be the exact same one that I have:
Click here to see the details on this storage rack!

When I went searching for Copic storage ideas for you guys, I came across the Artic Stamp Queen, who happens to store her Copics in the little Ikea bins I showed you in the video (hers are green, while the ones I showed you in the video are pink).

Now, if I plan on taking my markers with me somewhere, I pack 72 of them into my handy dandy marker wallet:
There are many sized wallets and iCopic just recently got them all back in stock. Click here to see all Copic storage available now! These wallets are AWESOME for traveling because they fold up nice and small and then when you want to color, they fan out so you can see all your colors. I seriously take this thing with me anywhere, the doctor's office, on vacation, in the car for long traveling. If you are wondering how it is possible to color on the move, then watch one of my older videos about how I streamline my coloring process, click here!

Now, I want to show you some of my favorite Copic storage ideas I have found on the internet!

Karen has a wonderful tutorial on how to create your own storage containers out of foam board:

On the StampTV discussion board, there is a great post about all the different ways that people store their Copics (including some photos!).

And you could always find a cute little cubbie or bin to store your markers in like the people below did.

Like this one I found on the Limetart Blog:

This one I found on the Papercraft Memories Blog:

And finally this one from our very own designer Alyssa:

Do you have a great Copic storage idea? Show us in the comments section below! We would love to see your method.

Video Tutorial: Tim Holtz Ink Applicator

Hey everyone! Samantha here with an easy video tutorial for you.

As you know, iCopic recently started carrying Tim Holtz Ranger products and so I decided to test out the Tim Holtz Ink Applicator! I had so much fun using it, and now it is one of my favorite tools! Since I got it, it has been on my desk non stop.

Here is a video showing you the ink applicator in action:

I happened to use this lovely tool on my project a few weeks ago, for the Red, White, and Blue challenge:

And I will be using it in the future as well! I just wanted to introduce it to you if you have never seen it before.  Pick one up today and see how it can improve your creativity!

Translucent Balloons

Hi everyone!! Dana here today with another tutorial and a card. First the tutorial and then I'll show you my finished card.

Easy, peasy huh? lol!! Even though I have done balloons before  I think every single color variation takes a little bit of playing and practicing. As promised, here's the finished card:
The image is Swiss Pixie Birthday Gretel from CC Designs. What a perfect stamp for practicing translucent coloring!! Here's a close up so you can get a better look at the balloons:

My sentiment is from Lawn Fawn and here's a close up of that:
I used the Girly Polka Dots 6x6 Paper Pack from Wild Rose Studio and  {wowzers} I love them!! I added a strip of Washi Tape on the left hand side.  Here's the one I used.
I used Tim Holtz Distress ink in both Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick to accent the punched oval.
Here's the copics I used:
Balloons: BG10, BG13, RV00, RV02, RV63, RV55
Skin: R21, E11, E00, E000, R20
Pants: BG72, BG75, BG78
Shirt: RV66, RV69
Hair: YR24, YR31, YR21, E30
Candle: BG10, BG13, YR04, Y17, Y08, Y02
Cupcake: E29, E27, E25, C5, C3, C1
Shoes: C5, C3, C1
Bow: RV66, RV69, RV55, RV63
The dotted background is BG10, BG000, BG0000, B00

I think the only other details are that I used Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black on X-Press It Blending card.  I hope to see your card in the challenge this week!

Hugs~

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Washi Tape Frame Tutorial

Hello everyone!! Samantha here, bringing you another Tuesday Tips and Tricks.

Today I have a video tutorial for you on how to make the cute Washi Tape frame I used on this card:

And here is the video:

Isn't that easy?! I thought it was just so simple yet so pretty. The frame really finishes off the card.

This cute little Image is Mermaid Anya from The Greeting Farm. These stamps are just too darn cute!!

To color the image in, I used the following Copic colors from iCopic.com: E0000, E000, E00, E02, BG70, BG71, YR68, YR07, YR16, E15, E18, and E29. I accented her cheeks with a white gel pen.

The sentiment is from the SP and Company Mix n Match Friends stamp set. I designed this set so that you could mix and match the words/phrases to create whatever sentiment you would like.

My complete card details can be found by clicking here.

Tulip Birgitta and a Video Tutorial

Dana here and I have such a fun card to share with you today created using Tulip Birgitta from CC Designs! You're going to be hearing that word "fun" from me a lot because I really do have fun coloring with my Copics.  One of the things I love to do the most is find how to use them in new ways and I will share one of those techniques with you at the end of this post but first here's my card:

Oops.. forgot to warn you how much I enjoy doodling with my white gel pen and Spica Glitter pens too!! Oh, and I like color!! Lots of bright, funky COLOR!!
Here's a close up of Birgitta:

Here's the colors I used:

Notice the Sepia Copic Multiliner SP? If you don't have one you really need one in black and in sepia. I love to add texture and wood grain with my sepia multi liner. You can see that in her little bench.

Here's a close up of the flowers, butterflies and that gorgeous sentiment from the SP & Company called Lovely Labels:
I stamped Birgitta with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and have you seen all the Memento Dew Drops??!!

Ok, so now the video I promised. The products you will need are covered in the video but here's links to  them in the store:

Have a great day and I can't wait to see your grass projects for this weeks challenge!

Hugs~

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Airbrush and the Copic Ciao

Hi everyone!!

For today's Tuesday Tips and Tricks segment, I have a little video for you about using your airbrush with the Copic Ciao markers. The marker holder part of the airbrush system is designed to hold the Copic Sketch markers.

I happen to prefer the Copic Ciao markers, but still want to be able to use the airbrush system so I found my own little work around.

Easy, huh? It cost me one dollar to "convert" my airbrush system and I can easily remove the addition so that I can use Sketch markers too!
