The storming of Seagard[1] was one of the opening battles of Greyjoy's Rebellion.

Prelude

Six years after Robert Baratheon claimed the Iron Throne, Lord Balon Greyjoy declared himself King of the Iron Isles. His younger brothers, Euron and Victarion Greyjoy, sneaked into Lannisport and burned the Lannister fleet at anchor, opening the western half of Westeros to ironborn attack.

Battle

Rodrik Greyjoy, the eldest son of Balon, led the assault on Seagard, the seat of House Mallister in the Riverlands. Beneath the walls of Seagard the battle was ferocious, but Lord Jason Mallister slew Rodrik and drove his men back into the Sunset Sea. It was the only time in three hundred years that the bell in the Booming Tower was rung.[1]

Aftermath

The battle at Seagard was a major setback for House Greyjoy. Rodrik was Balon's heir and the failed assault on Seagard prevented the ironborn from grabbing any land in the riverlands.[1]
