Character
By 129 AC, Simon was an elderly man.[1]
History
During the Dance of the Dragons, Simon surrendered Harrenhal at the sight of Caraxes, Prince Daemon Targaryen's dragon. Simon and his grandsons were then held as hostages by Daemon.[1]
Simon was freed from captivity when Ser Criston Cole, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, recovered the castle. However, Prince Aemond Targaryen, angry after the fall of King's Landing, believed Simon to be a traitor who had too easily yielded Harrenhal to Daemon. Aemond forced Simon into a duel, and then after he slew the aged knight, fed his remains to his dragon Vhagar. Aemond then ordered the executions of the remaining Strongs at Harrenhal, except for Alys Rivers, whom he took as his bedmate.[2]
Family
Larys Strong was Simon's great-nephew.[2] Simon's relation to Lord Bywin Strong is unknown.
