History
House Hoare, which ruled as King of the Isles and the Rivers, was destroyed during Aegon's Conquest. After the death of King Harren Hoare in the burning of Harrenhal, King Aegon I Targaryen granted rule over the riverlands to Lord Edmyn Tully, naming him Lord Paramount of the Trident.[2]
The ironborn fell into civil war as a result of Harren the Black's death, and in 2 AC Aegon led an invasion of the Iron Islands.[3] After defeating claimants who refused to kneel, Aegon the Conqueror allowed the surviving ironborn to choose who would rule the Iron Islands in his name.[1] Lord Vickon of House Greyjoy was chosen.[4]
Lord Balon Greyjoy declared himself King of the Iron Islands in 289 AC, but Greyjoy's Rebellion was defeated by King Robert I Baratheon.[5]
