History
The Greenfields are an ancient line, dating back to the days of the First Men. During this era, they built a vast timber castle, made entirely of weirwood, called the Bower, now known as Greenfield.[1]
In 209 AC, Ser Myles Greenfield participated in the tourney at Ashford Meadow.[4]
Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
Ser Garth Greenfield is taken captive in the battle in the Whispering Wood, probably by a Blackwood, since he spends the rest of the War of the Five Kings as a prisoner at Raventree Hall.[5]
A Clash of Kings
Sansa Stark dislikes Ser Preston Greenfield of the Kingsguard because he treats her like a lackwit child, in addition to beating her on the orders of King Joffrey Baratheon.[6]
Preston is stabbed and hacked brutally during the riot of King's Landing. He is last seen trying to protect the High Septon after his litter had been overturned. The discovery of his body takes some time, due to the fact that his formerly white armor had been covered entirely with his blood.[7]
A Feast for Crows
When pondering on the celibacy vows of the Kingsguard, Ser Arys Oakheart remembers how Ser Preston used to visit a draper's house when the draper was away.[8]
House Greenfield at the end of the third century
The known Greenfields during the timespan of the events described in A Song of Ice and Fire are:
- Ser Garth Greenfield, the Knight of Greenfield.[5]
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch of the house there is:
- Ser {Preston Greenfield}, a member of King Robert I Baratheon's Kingsguard. Slain by rioters at King's Landing.[7]
Historical members
- Ser Myles Greenfield, who participated in the tourney at Ashford Meadow in 209 AC.[4]
Notes
- ↑ The text states that certain houses trace their roots back to the "golden age of the First Men",[1] a term that could be meant to cover the Dawn Age and the Age of Heroes together. However, it also states that the seat of House Greenfield is made "entirely of weirwood", which means it was probably built before the Pact, the event that marked the end of the Dawn Age and the beginning of the Age of Heroes.[2]
