The High Septon was a High Septon of the Faith of the Seven, the first of the three living during the reign of King Baelor I Targaryen.[1]
History
When Prince Baelor became king after the death of his brother, King Daeron I Targaryen, he convinced the High Septon to dissolve his marriage to his sister, Princess Daena Targaryen. The High Septon supported Baelor's choice of taking a septon's vows, and grew increasingly influential in the kingdom.[1]
After his death, Baelor convinced the Most Devout to elect a lackwit stonemason, Pate, to the position of High Septon.[1]
